Job summary
The post holder will be responsible for providing a range of activities for patients accessing the new eating disorder day treatment service. They will be required to work without direct supervision.
Main duties of the job
To provide a diverse programme of activities for all day patients.
To provide activities to a group of patients. These activities will include prescribed therapeutic interventions and for physical activity, planned wellbeing,
patient meetings and mental wellbeing.
To provide activities on and off the day treatment unit, accessing the local community as required.
To ensure core interventions from the patient group are delivered constantly for all patient groups

Job description Job responsibilities
Communicate effectively via email and telephone as required.
To regularly liaise with colleagues to discuss, plan and implement activities appropriate to the clinical area.
Attend team meetings and any other identified meetings as required.
Report any untoward situations or any issues of concern as appropriate to the Team Manager.
To motivate patients to participate in therapeutic activities.
To provide feedback to the ward staff on patients participation and other relevant information.
To participate in regular supervision.
ANALYTICAL AND JUDGMENTAL SKILLS / FREEDOM TO ACT
The post holder will be required to work independently
The post holder will participate in managerial supervision with their line manager
To work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team and report directly to their line manager
PLANNING AND ORGANISATIONAL SKILLS
To assist in developing the activities programme that supports the core and person centred pathways.
To assist with the development of new schemes and initiatives.
To plan and organise activity sessions.
PHYSICAL SKILLS
Perform basic life support.
Perform breakaway and de-escalation techniques
RESPONSIBILITY FOR PATIENTS / CLIENTS
To act always in such a way as to promote and safeguard the wellbeing and interests of patients.
Maintain an atmosphere conclusive to recovery and maintain a friendly professional relationship with patients, relatives, carers and colleagues alike.
Provide a diverse programme of activities in line with core requirements to a group of patients and also on an individual basis.
POLICY AND SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES
The post holder will be encouraged to suggest changes to the department to improve efficiency / productivity
RESPONSIBILITY FOR FINANCIAL AND PHYSICAL RESOURCES
To ensure effective use of resources.
Maintain all equipment in working order.
To handle petty cash as required under the direction of the Team Manager to purchase items and equipment required to undertake activities.
To identify resources and equipment and equipment required to undertake activities.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR STAFF
Participate in the induction of new starters as requested.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR INFORMATION
Maintain accurate records of activity sessions undertaken.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
To participate in research and audits as required.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
The nature of this role will require the post holder to walk around the day hospital to on a daily basis. Carrying or pushing a trolley with items and equipment to undertake activities.
To undertake physical activities with patients where appropriate i.e. walking
MENTAL EFFORT
Carry out environmental risk assessments under the direction of the Team Manager.
EMOTIONAL EFFORT
Working with patients with challenging behaviours
WORKING CONDITIONS
The nature of this role may expose the post holder to the risk of verbal and physical aggression.
OTHER DUTIES
The post holder will be required to use a computer, whether a stand alone or as part of a networked system, and will be responsible for the quality of
information. The amount of time spent on this type of work will depend on the
job.
The post holder will be required to take part in an annual performance appraisal, where this job description will be reviewed, and objectives set.

Qualifications Essential
Good general level of education Level 3 or equivalent
Knowledge Essential
Good verbal and written Communication Knowledge of diversional activities that can be used in social and recreational programmes
Experience Essential
Substantial experience of working within Mental Health Services Recent experience working within an inpatient / day treatment setting Experience of working within group activities
