Job summary
North Tyneside Council are recruiting a Specialist Public Health Nurse for Children and Young People with SEND to work in the 0-19 Childrens Public Health Service.

The post holder will work directly with children and young people and their families who have more complex specialist needs, deploying the appropriate resources and working collaboratively with key partners to ensure they have access to appropriate services.
The Specialist Public Health Nurse will shape service delivery to meet the needs of service users, to provide greater access and choice and to enhance service delivery whilst addressing health inequalities. The post holder would collate service user feedback to ensure the service is responsive to local community needs and includes the voice of the child.
The Specialist Public Health Nurse will promote best practice across the service by offering specific advice, support, education and training to colleagues to ensure children, young people and their families are supported in a timely and effective way through up to date and evidence-based practice.

The successful candidate
The Specialist Public Health Nurse is accountable for the consistency and quality of their practice and that of supervisees. The Specialist Public Health Nurse supports the team to prepare for and contribute to successful inspections.
The essential requirements of the post are: Registered Nurse/Midwife ,Registered SCPHN, assessor/supervisor experience and the ability to meet the travel requirements of the post.

The purpose of the job is to improve the health and wellbeing of those children and young people with SEND in North Tyneside. This includes support for families with children under the age of 5 and children and young people attending mainstream school. The Specialist Public Health Nurse will promote best practice across the service by offering specific advice, support, education and training to colleagues to ensure children, young people and their families are supported in a timely and effective way through up to date and evidence-based practice.
The Specialist Public Health Nurse will work directly with children and young people and their families who have more complex specialist needs, deploying the appropriate resources and working collaboratively with key partners to ensure they have access to appropriate services. The Specialist Public Health Nurse will shape service delivery to meet the needs of service users, to provide greater access and choice and to enhance service delivery whilst addressing health inequalities. The post holder would collate service user feedback to ensure the service is responsive to local community needs and includes the voice of the child.
The Specialist Public Health Nurse is responsible for developing and maintaining effective partnership working with local agencies and groups in the area, for example police, health services, early help, SEND support, childrens social care, schools and voluntary/community groups. Working directly with colleagues and partner agencies they will profile the health needsof this client group and inform service planning for children and families to ensure they achieve optimum health and wellbeing.
