We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Logistics Operative to join our team, helping ensure that essential equipment, supplies and services reach the right place at the right time across Barnsley Hospital and our community locations.

The role supports multiple services including Medical Engineering, Decontamination, Procurement and Facilities, making you a vital part of keeping healthcare services running smoothly.

No two days are the same. From receiving and distributing deliveries to transporting equipment and supplies between sites, you'll play an important role in supporting patient care. You'll work with a wide range of colleagues, drive Trust vehicles and help ensure high standards of safety, quality and customer service are maintained.

We're looking for someone who

Holds a full UK driving licence

Has great organisational skills and attention to detail

Is reliable, flexible and customer focused

Works well independently and as part of a team

Experience in logistics, distribution, or similar would be beneficial, but most importantly we're looking for a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

Shift is mainly Monday to Friday, 16.00 20.00, but at times, some flexibility might be required.

Main duties of the job

As a Logistics Operative, you will ensure essential supplies and equipment are delivered safely and efficiently across Barnsley Hospital and its community locations. Working within Barnsley Facilities Services, you will keep services running smoothly by receiving, checking, storing and distributing goods, consumables and equipment to wards, departments and off-site locations.

You will drive Trust vehicles, complete daily safety checks, load and unload deliveries, maintain accurate records and ensure goods reach the right place at the right time.

You will work closely with colleagues, providing a responsive and customer-focused service. You will follow quality procedures and safe systems of work, including manual handling, health and safety, infection prevention, traceability and secure storage requirements. You will also help keep work areas clean, tidy and organised.

We are looking for someone reliable, flexible and organised, with a positive attitude, good communication skills and strong attention to detail. You will enjoy hands-on work and be confident working independently and as part of a team. Personal Attributes Essential

Team-player A diligent approach to work and attention to detail.

Skills and Abilities Essential

Be customer focused. Willingness to train (if not already qualified) as a fork lift truck driver

Experience Desirable

Previous experience of using computer based stock replenishment or supply systems. Previous experience of a logistics/distribution or retail environment.

Qualifications Essential

Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable

Possess an NVQ level 2 in procurement or customer care, or be willing to study for the same. Forklift Qualification

Knowledge and Awareness Essential

An understanding of the Health & Safety at Work Act. An understanding of the need for confidentiality. Knowledge of stores procedures.

Desirable

Knowledge of inventory control systems. Knowledge of safe manual handling techniques. Knowledge of decontamination processes
