Are you an experienced Psychological Therapist looking to advance your leadership skills?
We are seeking a part time Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our team!
Working with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Locality Lead, you will help deliver high-quality psychological therapy care and support service development, with a particular focus on the Northeast AMHT.
As a key member of the team, you will support psychological therapy colleagues and work within the friendly, supportive adult mental health team in Northeast Oxfordshire. You will promote psychologically informed practice by advising AMHT staff on patient care and the contribution of psychological therapies.
We offer great CPD and training opportunities and have excellent links with the Oxford Centre for Psychological Health and Oxford Institute for Clinical Psychology Training, which is hosted by the Trust. We actively encourage innovation and research with opportunities for collaborations with the University of Oxford Department of Psychiatry. We also collaborate with Oxford Brookes University, Buckinghamshire New University, and the University of Bath.
The role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership skillsand shape psychological therapies within the newly integrated Northeast Adult Mental Health Team, part of the North and West Oxfordshire Adult Mental Health Locality.

Main duties of the job
We are seeking an experienced Clinical or Counselling Psychologist who is committed to improving outcomes for people with long-term mental health needs. We would welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate:
Experience of leading and managing psychological therapy staff Advanced knowledge of a specialist therapeutic approach Strong working knowledge of effective, evidence-based treatments Sound clinical risk assessment and management skills Experience of safeguarding children and adults at risk Substantial experience of supervising psychological therapists

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS Essential
Doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling psychology, or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996, as accredited by the British Psychological Society, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology. HCPC registration Full accreditation with relevant bodies Ability to travel between bases as required
Desirable
Pre-qualification training and qualifications or experience in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology. Qualifications / training in clinical supervision - This sounds more relevant to clinical supervision. Eligible for BABCP accreditation
EXPERIENCE Essential
Extensive experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, day services and in patient settings. Experience of supervising others. Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and threat of physical abuse. Experience of working with people with severe and/or complex mental health difficulties. This includes maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse. Experience of teaching and training.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Essential
Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration. Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS. Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups. Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis. Evidence of continuing professional development as required by professional and accrediting bodies. Good organisational and time management skills, ability to plan and prioritise own workload Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health. Ability to identify provide and promote appropriate means of support to carers and staff exposed to highly distressing situations and severely challenging behaviours Ability to identify, and employ, as appropriate, clinical governance mechanisms for the support and maintenance of clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behaviour Ability to develop and use complex and multimedia materials for presentation and public, professional and academic settings

Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies with people with severe and/or complex mental health difficulties
