At Shepton Mallet Hospital, we have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Nursing and Clinical Services to join our Senior Management Team. In this influential leadership role, you'll help shape and deliver our clinical strategy, ensuring safe, effective, patient-focused care across a broad range of services including Theatres, Wards, Pre-Operative Assessment, Outpatients, Endoscopy, Therapies, Imaging, Pharmacy and Sterile Services. You'll work closely with senior clinical and operational leaders to drive outstanding patient outcomes, experience, governance and service development.

Main duties of the job

As our Head of Nursing and Clinical Services, you will report to the Hospital Director and accountable to the Chief Nurse, you'll provide professional, operational and clinical leadership across Nursing and AHP services. You'll lead Heads of Department, oversee workforce planning, support financial and operational performance, drive quality improvement initiatives and maintain robust clinical governance processes. You'll build strong relationships with consultants, NHS partners and key stakeholders, whilst ensuring compliance with CQC standards and organisational policies. The role will also participate in the hospital on-call rota.

As a registered Nurse (NMC) or AHP (HCPC) with a relevant Master's degree or equivalent postgraduate qualification, you will also have:

Significant senior leadership experience within acute healthcare A strong track record of managing services, leading change, developing clinical teams and delivering outstanding patient care. Experience of CQC compliance, governance, incident management, workforce planning, financial management and stakeholder engagement.
