Job summary

We are seeking a skilled Health Care Assistant to join our dedicated GP Practice. In this role, you will provide high-quality patient care and support our clinical team in delivering essential services to our local community.

This is an excellent opportunity for the right person to join a fabulous team and to help us support our patients.

We are flexible with regard to hours and the role could be full time or part time, please state in your application which is your preference.

Main duties of the job

Performing venepuncture and blood sampling.

Administering immunisations, including flu and B12 injections

Measuring blood pressure and other vital signs

Conducting NHS Health Checks

Performing diabetic foot checks

Wound care and dressings in time

Possibly carrying out ECG's or spirometry ( or could develop into this)

Supporting clinicians with patient care and administrative duties as required

About us

Our Practice Team consists of 5 GP Partners, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses & HCAs, we have a very supportive and enthusiastic management team and excellent reception and administrative team. We use the SystmOne clinical System and are a well-established Training Practice for GP Registrars and Medical Students. We are a recognised teaching practice for medical students from the University of Nottingham.

We are part of Ashfield North PCN and work collaboratively across our Network area. Our Primary Care Network team consists of Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, Mental Health Practitioners and a Pharmacy Technician, plus access to social prescribing team.

As well as providing General Practice services to our practice population of 12,000, we also run the Mid-Notts Community Microsuction Clinic.

Our premises are modern, and purpose built with onsite parking.

Job description Job responsibilities

Perform venepuncture and other blood sampling procedures safely and accurately.

Administer immunisations, including flu vaccines and B12 injections.

Measure and record patient blood pressure and other vital signs.

Conduct NHS Health Checks and diabetic foot checks.

Dressings and wound care in time.

Possible ECG's and Spirometry (or could develop into this)

Support clinicians during patient consultations and procedures as required.

Maintain accurate patient records in line with practice policies and data protection regulations.

Assist with the smooth running of clinical areas, including preparation and stock management of clinical equipment.

Work flexibly to meet service needs.

Participate in training and professional development activities as required.

Stock management including ordering

Safety checks including stock check and fridge temperature monitoring

Person Specification

Experience Essential

Experience of working in a healthcare environment. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Basic IT skills and experience of electronic record systems. Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection. Ability to prioritise workload and work independently when appropriate

Desirable

Care Certificate or relevant experience NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent). Experience in primary care/general practice or a similar setting. Competency in venepuncture, Possibly ECG recording. Possibly knowledge of chronic disease management and health promotion.

Qualifications Essential

*GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths *Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant in a healthcare setting. *Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. *Caring, compassionate, and professional approach to patient care. *Good IT and administrative skills. *Understanding of confidentiality and data protection requirements
