About this role

Job summary

Weston House Practice is looking for a part-time phlebotomist to join our friendly team in Cheltenham caring for 19,500 registered patients over two sites. You will work as part of our supportive Nursing Team. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of phlebotomy and have strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Main duties of the job

Perform venepuncture to collect blood samples from patients using safe and hygienic techniques.Ensure all samples are correctly labelled and handled for analysis.Perform INR tests using INR Star, full training will be providedMaintain accurate records in SystmOne in compliance with clinical standardsMaintain a clean and organised work area in compliance with CQC, infection control and health and safety regulations.Support the nursing team in administrative tasks when required.

About us

Weston House Practice is based in St Paul's Medical Centre with a branch surgery at Up Hatherley in Cheltenham caring for 19,300 patients across both sites. We have a team of 7 GP partners, 6 salaried GPs and an extended clinical team of ANPs, Practice Nurses, HCAs and a phlebotomist. We are part of a PCN based in St Paul's Medical Centre. The practice benefits from a multidisciplinary team of clinical pharmacists, first contact practitioners, paramedics and social prescribers. We have a very good team ethos in the practice and work together to provide high quality care. Benefits include membership of the NHS Pension scheme and free on-site parking at both sites.

Qualifications Essential

Previous experience in phlebotomy is essential. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. A compassionate and patient-focussed approach.

Desirable

Willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities. Ability to work across two sites as required. Car driver
