Applications are invited for a part-time 0.1 wte (3.75hrs) Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Psychotherapist (Band 8b or Equivalent) at the South London and Maudsley (SLaM) NHS Foundation Trust.The post is an exciting opportunity to be part of the award-winning Psychological Interventions Clinic for outpatients with Psychosis (PICuP) based at the Maudsley Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The candidate will be expected to do the following:o Facilitate specialist CBT for Psychosis (CBTp) and Trauma-focused CBTp (TF-CBTp) supervision groups nationally (for NHS and academic courses) and potentially internationally (via MS Teams).o Listen to and rate supervisees session recordings according to standard CBT ratings scales (e.g. CTRS, C-PAS).o Contribute to enabling other staff, service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe environment.
There may also be opportunities to be involved with the following:o Supporting dissemination of evidence-based psychological therapies including providing specialist training in an area of expertise related to psychological interventions in psychosis (especially trauma) and related emotional problems in SLaM, other NHS trusts, and nationally/internationally.
o Delivering individual cognitive behavioural therapy (and family intervention) to clients with ongoing distressing symptoms of psychosis, bipolar disorder and/or secondary emotional difficulties (especially trauma), and their carers. This will include specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes.

Key Responsibilities: To facilitate specialist CBT for psychosis or TF-CBTp supervision groups both for the NHS and academic courses nationally and/or internationally.
To provide specialist training in an area of expertise related to psychological interventions in psychosis (especially trauma) and related emotional problems in SLaM, other NHS trusts, and nationally.
To be familiar with the academic literature and the evidence base in recent developments in psychological interventions in psychosis, and use this literature in the teaching of their specialist area of expertise.
To provide psychological expertise in psychosis and bipolar disorder and trauma, which will contribute to the service provided by the PICuP clinic.
To work as an independent and autonomous professional within HCPC and BPS guidelines, and the policies and procedures of the service, taking full responsibility for own work including treatment and discharge decisions.
To contribute to the effective working of the PICuP team and clinical services involved and to a psychologically informed framework for the service area.
To provide highly specialist psychological consultation and professional and clinical supervision to colleagues and others in PICuP and to contribute to a psychologically informed framework within the service.
To contribute to the consultation and engagement of service users in planning and developing services and training.
To provide expertise in a highly specialist research area which will contribute to psychological interventions in psychosis.
To disseminate research and service evaluation findings through presentations and published articles.
To contribute to the strategic development and implementation of new initiatives e.g. national guidelines including NICE.
To comply with the HCPC Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics and ensure professional development in line with the HPC Standards for Continuing Professional Development and Standards of Proficiency. To adhere to the BPS Psychologys Professional Practice Guidelines and Trust policies and procedures
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Doctoral level qualification in clinical or counselling psychology or equivalent. Registered with the HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist. BABCP accreditation

Additional training and experience in cognitive behaviour therapy for psychosis EMDR Trained
Experience Essential
Experience of specialist 8a psychological assessment and treatment (CBT/FI/EMDR) of clients with a range of psychological needs of a complex nature in adult mental health and particularly with clients with psychosis/bipolar disorder and trauma. Experience of providing specialist teaching and training to psychologists and/or other professional groups Experience of providing specialist supervision groups to psychologists and/or other professional groups Specialist interest and experience in a 'niche' area related to psychosis, both in terms of therapy and training provision (such TF-CBTp)
Desirable
Experience of involving service-users in the planning and/or delivery of clinical services, and/or research and service evaluation projects Experience of being a trial therapist
Knowledge Essential
Highly developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies for clients with psychosis and their carers (especially trauma) Ability to supervise clinical/counselling psychologists, trainees and other professional groups having completed the relevant training
