Front Street Surgery is consistently rated highly by patients and the CQC. We are a small, single-site practice that deeply values our staff and is a great place to work.

The practice is looking for an experienced clinical coder to join our existing friendly and supportive team on a part-time basis (15-20hpw).

Main duties of the job

The main purpose of the job is to process incoming clinical correspondence and accurately assign appropriate clinical codes into the patient record using SystmOne, in line with national standards and practice protocols.

We need someone who is methodical with a process-driven approach who can manage their time effectively. As part of a small team, you must be reliable with a can-do attitude. Previous experience in this role is essential, as is knowledge of SystmOne.

This is an in-person, office-based role primarily within practice hours of 8-6.30pm weekdays, however there is flexibility for the right person, so working hours/days can be discussed at interview.

The main purpose of the job is to process incoming clinical correspondence and accurately assign appropriate clinical codes into the patient record using SystmOne, in line with national standards and practice protocols.

You will be required to:

Scan incoming correspondence into the clinical system and prepare this for processing. Process correspondence accurately and efficiently, with a high level of attention to detail. Assign appropriate clinical codes to documents in line with national standards and practice protocols. Forward documents to clinicians/pharmacy team for action where required. Process all areas of your work efficiently and effectively following relevant guidelines/SOPs. Keep ahead of any process change / improvements and implement these into your role. Treat all aspects of your role with the highest level of confidentiality. Manage your time and workload effectively to ensure timely processing of documents, supporting safe and effective clinical care at all times. Work with minimum supervision.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Fluent in English (verbal and written) with excellent communication skills. Current or previous experience of clinical coding. Current or previous experience of SystmOne. Good knowledge of the snomed/read code system. Understanding of medical terminology. Awareness of confidentiality and information governance regulations and procedures. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail. A 'can-do' attitude and positive outlook towards your work. Able to work autonomously and equally well in a team.

Desirable

Previous experience in a primary care setting. Knowledge of QOF.
