As Community Fundraising Lead, you'll lead a small team to grow support for Bluebell Wood across the region, empowering people, organisations and communities to champion our mission in ways that are authentic to them. Job Purpose
Provide strategic and operational leadership for community fundraising, driving sustainable income growth, excellent supporter experiences and strong team performance. You'll empower others to take ownership, encourage fresh thinking and build meaningful partnerships that reflect the unique strengths of the communities we serve. Through purposeful leadership and a genuine commitment to our supporters, you'll help strengthen Bluebell Wood's reach, reputation and impact.

You'll lead a small community fundraising team, creating a positive, high-performing culture and ensuring excellent supporter care.
You'll grow income, engagement and awareness through Bluebell Wood's community fundraising programme, building relationships with schools, community groups, local networks and businesses. As an ambassador for the hospice, you'll inspire support for our mission.
Working with Marketing & Communications and Volunteering colleagues, you'll deliver fundraising activities, strengthen supporter loyalty and develop volunteers and Community Ambassadors.
Using data, insight and effective stewardship, you'll plan, monitor and evaluate activity to support sustainable growth.
What you'll need
You'll be a strategic, relationship-focused fundraiser with experience in community fundraising, supporter engagement and partnership development. You'll have a proven track record of growing income, achieving targets and building successful relationships.
You'll be an effective communicator, confident presenting to a range of audiences, developing proposals and gaining support for new ideas. You'll also have a good understanding of fundraising regulations, GDPR and sector best practice, alongside experience using Microsoft Office and online collaboration tools.

At Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice, we're committed to ensuring every baby, child and young person with a life-limiting condition can access specialist palliative care whenever and wherever they need it. Supporting families across South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, North Derbyshire and parts of North Lincolnshire, we provide a wide range of expert services tailored to each family's needs, including respite care, symptom management, counselling, therapies, home visits and end-of-life support. Delivering this vital care costs around £6.7 million each year, yet only around 17% of our income comes from government funding, meaning we rely heavily on fundraising, donations and community support. Job Purpose
This position plays a central part in strengthening Bluebell Woods presence within the community by leading the development and delivery of community focused income
streams. The postholder will guide a small team, build sector specific relationships, and create innovative ways for community supporters to engage with and champion the hospices mission.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & Development
Provide day to day leadership and shape team priorities for a small team by having clear objectives, regular coaching, and opportunities for professional growth, whilst overseeing work plans that align with broader organisational fundraising goals.
Drive a culture that values creativity, shared learning, and continuous improvement.
2. Community Fundraising Planning & Delivery
Lead the formation and rollout of Bluebell Woods community fundraising approach, focusing on educational settings, grassroots organisations,
associations, and local networks.
Identify emerging trends and gaps in community engagement to expand opportunities for support and income, while maintaining high standards of supporter care throughout the community fundraising journey.
3. Relationship Development & External Representation
Build meaningful connections with regional groups such as schools, youth services, local clubs, and independent businesses to broaden awareness and inspire support.
Represent the hospice at community meetings, outreach events, and speaking engagements, promoting opportunities for involvement.
Embed tailored stewardship practices that respond to the needs and motivations of different supporter types.
4. Income Innovation & Campaign Support
Oversee a varied calendar of community-driven activity and champion cross promotion of all fundraising initiatives enabling Bluebell Wood as a standout charity within the region.
Work collaboratively with the marketing team to deliver communication approaches that deepen supporter loyalty and encourage long-term giving.
5. Volunteer & Ambassador Engagement
Work closely with the volunteering team to attract, induct, and support individuals who assist with community fundraising.
Develop and nurture Community Ambassadors who can advocate for the hospice within their networks.
6. Data, Compliance & Evaluation
Ensure interactions with supporters are recorded accurately and that all stewardship is timely and appropriate.
Use reporting tools and data insights to inform best practice, planning, evaluate performance, and identify growth areas.
Skills, Experience & Education
Essential
Strategic thinker with the ability to plan and prioritise effectively.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to deliver compelling pitches.
Proven track record of strategic income generation with a creative and innovative approach.
Significant experience in community fundraising and relationship management.
Demonstrable success in securing and managing community partnerships.
Proven experience of working within financial budgets and KPIs
Knowledge of fundraising regulations, GDPR, and best practice guidelines.
Strong ability to build relationships and sustainable networks as well as create new opportunities.
Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams, plus Zoom Conferencing (to intermediate level)
Ability to research, identify, and develop new business opportunities.
Desirable
Knowledge of Fundraising codes of practice and sector legalities
Strong understanding of CSR principles and community engagement strategies.
Experience of leading a small team.
