About this role

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team working within the ADHD Service pathway delivering high quality service provision that promotes and improves the mental health and well-being of children and young people on the ADHD pathway.

As a Mental Health Practitioner you will be expected to support the Specialist ADHD Nurses across The Bay, working within a systemic and holistic framework undertaking needs led and evidence-based assessments within the ADHD pathway.

You will work with children, young people, parents, carers and schools in a variety of ways to help provide support and management of child or young person's diagnosis. The role will include completing initial assessments, participating in referral screening and triage, participating in duty rota supporting families with queries they may have, providing appropriate follow up appointments to young people receiving medication as part of their treatment in line with NICE guidelines.

Within in the role of the ADHD practitioner you will liaise with other professionals in order that the child and family/carers receive an integrated multi-agency approach. And you will participate in the monitoring, research and evaluation of the ADHD pathway.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking an individual who has experience in working with children and young people ADHD services within mental health services and who has a good understanding of childhood development.

Successful applicants will be required to co-work effectively with colleagues and maintain good clinical records and data collection.

A means of transport is essential and applicants must be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team:-

o To take a leadership role in the delivery of high quality service provision that promotes and improves the mental health and well-being of young people, their families and carers.o Within a systemic and holistic framework undertake needs led, evidence based, highly skilled assessments and therapeutic interventions to young people, their families and carers, who present to the service, including as a result of deliberate self-harm.o As part of an integrated ADHD service actively liaise and support robust partnership working arrangements between the CAMHS and Adult Mental Heath services and community partners and other key stakeholders involved with the child across agencies in order that an integrated package of care is developed.o Provide a high level of generic skills and competencies and work towards development of areas of clinical expertise within the field of ADHD complimenting other members of the team.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

First level Nursing qualification, RMN or equivalent Information technology skills sufficient to the undertaking of the post Minimum 12 months experience working as registered nurse

Knowledge Essential

Demonstrable ability to communicate to clients, their families and professionals sensitive and often difficult to receive information, using various methods including verbal, non-verbal, written and presentation skills Demonstrable knowledge and skills in evidence based needs led assessments, of highly complex and co-morbid presentations of children, young people, their families and carers. Demonstrable knowledge and skills in evidence based therapeutic interventions relevant to the needs of this client group

Experience Essential

Specialist working knowledge and experience of supporting and monitoring children and young people diagnosed with ADHD Demonstrable knowledge/ understanding and experience in assessment of young people with complex mental health and complex needs such as ADHD/ASD Evidence of an ability to effectively manage own workload and able to work autonomously
