Registered Dental Assistant II
Position Description: Under direct supervision, supports dental care delivery by preparing treatment rooms, patients, instruments and materials. Provides assistance to faculty, residents and students in respective clinic in accordance with the State Dental Practice Act. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. Perform some supervisory duties as instructed.

Additionally, this position is not eligible for remote or hybrid opportunities. All work is required to be performed onsite at TTEP.
Major/Essential Functions: • Supervise the preparation and maintenance of dental instruments, materials and equipment. • Coach RDA's to collect and record patient health histories (dental and medical) and record information for dentist’s reference prior to examination. • Train RDA's on taking and process x-rays, intraoral scanning, and axiUm software. • Teach RDA's to assist dentist chair-side by organizing and preparing instruments for dentist’s use and assisting as needed during procedures in the faculty practice clinic. • Follow through with post-visit duties. Ensure RDA's can demonstrate knowledge of clinic infection control procedures, cleaning and sterilization of instruments, tray setup and materials. • Utilize the requisite tools, systems, technology and equipment in the collection of patient data, records management and collections. • Manage the orderly appearance of the dental/hygiene operatories. • Oversee supply orders to maintain adequate quantities of supplies are on hand to perform the necessary treatment procedures. • Works with SPD and cooperation with the Patient Service Specialists, responsible for filling and maintaining an efficient and effective Dental Schedule. • Remains current with all licensure, certifications and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position. • Adhere to all policies, procedures and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSECEP OPs, etc.). • Personally, and consistently, demonstrate, display and act in accordance with Texas Tech Health El Paso’s Values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Required Qualifications: • High School or equivalent. • Completion of a recognized dental assistant educational program. • Three (3) year of related experience, with at least one (1) of those year in a Supervisory role. • Dental Assistant registry with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners.
Preferred Qualifications: • Knowledge of names of teeth and tooth surfaces. • Knowledge of chart examination and treatment information. • Knowledge of common dental instruments, equipment and materials and their use. • Knowledge of dental hygiene and prophylaxis. • Knowledge of the techniques, methods and procedures of effective sterilization. • Application of some knowledge of the techniques of dental x-ray examination. • Application of some knowledge of the principles of modern dental record keeping. • Application of some knowledge of office practices and procedures. • Collect data and information.
