Visa Information: TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.

Position Description: Serve as a liaison between insurance and health care providers to ensure the timely coordination, and accurate processing, of patient referrals required for medical specialty visits.

Major/Essential Functions: Work performed as part of a total health care team in providing patient referrals coordination and navigation including: • Tracking and documentation of patient referrals to promote team awareness and ensure patient safety • Assemble patient demographic, insurance/payer, and health data • Insurance/payer prior authorization • Provide patient and family communication, navigation, and advocacy through the referral process • Establish and maintain communication and relationships with identified service providers and community resources • Update patient records with demographics, insurance, and information on specialist consults, hospitalizations, ER visits, and community organizations related to their health.

Required Qualifications: THIS POSITION IS OPEN TO CURRENT TTUHSC EMPLOYEES ONLY

• Associate degree plus One (1) year of experience directly related to the processing of patient referrals; OR • High school diploma or GED plus three (3) years of experience working as a Certified Medical Assistant; OR • High school diploma or GED plus five (5) years of experience directly related to patient registration, patient scheduling, patient billing/collections, the processing of prior authorizations, and/or the processing of patient referrals.

Preferred Qualifications: • Previous experience in customer service • Experience working in a team oriented setting • Experience managing priorities • Experience using resources with complex problem- solving • Experience following through with delegated tasks and taking accountability • Bilingual English/Spanish

Pay Statement: Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.
