BAE Systems Precision Strike (PS) business area is seeking a Munitions Acceleration and Production Quality Manager to support the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) program. This manager will lead Munitions Acceleration Team for the Quality function and be the Production Quality Manager on THAAD. In this role, you will work closely with both the Munitions Acceleration Team (MAT) and the Production Program as a member of the Program Management Team to provide proactive, value-added solutions to THAAD Acceleration and expansion efforts while maintaining production volumes. In addition, the Quality Manager is responsible for Cost Account Management, Risk and Opportunity inputs, Life Cycle Management supports, Ramp to Rate and Production activities from the Quality perspective. Activities include, but are not limited to, factory expansion internally and additional BAE Systems locations, customer requirements management including translation to execution, training plans, hiring resources to support expansion, supply chain support, and leadership of the Quality Team. A heavy focus on a smooth, well thought expansion and transition planning is support of Munitions Acceleration while maintaining current production. This person will need to work directly with the Program Quality Manager III on the leadership of the THAAD Quality Team.
The successful candidate: • Possess strong communication and presentation skills to facilitate effective communication at all levels of the organization and across customers and partner communities • Is a visible, influential leader who takes a collaborative approach with others and comes across as approachable; can diffuse high-tension situations effectively • Proven experience on Production Program • Takes responsibility for resolving technical challenges and ensuring successful tactical execution across the team • Relates well with individuals at all levels of the organization, builds effective relationships within BAE Systems and across customer base • Cost Account Management experience on a complex earned value program • Risk and Opportunity Management experience • Requirements Management and Quality Planning
Key Responsibilities: • Provide direction, supervision, and guidance to ensure alignment with quality policy, strategic objectives and organization goals that drive to Zero Defect plans and Strategy • Collaborate with program leadership for planning, execution, and management of critical Development Activities • Support integrated management teams to determine strategy and tactical deployment, improve performance, lower costs, and generate innovative solutions with a continuous improvement mindset • Champion innovative ideas for program execution on ways to be faster and efficient while maintaining Quality • Develop and implement program quality plans and procedures • Ensure products conform to established company and regulatory performance and quality standards • Review, analyze and report on quality discrepancies and data within the program • Investigate problems and develop disposition and corrective actions for discrepancies – using proven RCCA techniques and driving sustainable preventive improvements.
Required Skills and Education: • Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of work experience in a relevant field (Engineering or technical field is strongly preferred) • Active Secret clearance • Experience in the aerospace and defense industry • Exhibits a high degree of technical credibility and communicates highly-technical information in a simplistic and easily understandable way • Self-starting problem solver with a demonstrated history of leadership and managing diverse teams • Strong and demonstrated communication skills (written, verbal, visual) and interpersonal skills (listening and communicating within a group/team/geographically diverse environment) • Organizational skills – can marshal resources to get things done, orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal, use matrixed resources effectively and efficiently, and arrange information in a useful manner
Preferred Skills and Education: • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certified • Experience with expansion of manufacturing of products and systems as well as validation and verification efforts • Strong understanding of Quality Science tools (APQP/PPAP, 8D RCCA, Statistical Process Controls, Lean Six Sigma, Auditing) along with relevant industry standards (AS9100, AS9102 and AS9145).
