BAE Systems is looking for an experienced Structural Engineer with a passion for engineering and the desire to be part of an innovative, dedicated team responsible for designing, developing, and testing of industry-leading navigation products.

Role Summary The team is responsible for overseeing environmental lab activities, coordinating vibration and shock test efforts, mentoring Hardware Engineering Teams in Structural Design best practices and develops dynamic test environments. The Structural Engineer is responsible for the mechanical architecture, structural integrity, and physical validation of complex hardware. This role focuses on ensuring that components and assemblies can withstand all anticipated operational loads—including static, dynamic, and environmental stresses—without failure. The engineer oversees the operation of vibration shaker tables and is responsible for the development and creation of customized vibration profiles to simulate real-world operational environments.

The candidate will have experience with vibration testing, understanding of structural design best practices and be capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.

Required Skills and Education: • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering • Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., NX, Creo) • Expertise in FEA software (e.g., Ansys) • Strong foundation in classical mechanics of materials and structural dynamics • Vibration and Shock testing Experience • Knowledge of MIL-STD-810 test requirements and setups

Preferred Skills and Education: • Familiarity with industry-specific structural standards like MIL-STD-810 • Knowledge of designing for 3D printing or metal part fabrication (e.g. CNC) • Knowledge of vibration and shock tables • Experience with creating Test Procedures
