Join our Collins Aerospace York, NE team as an NDT Technician supporting the manufacture of highly engineered, precision components for commercial and military aircraft. Our components are used primarily in generators and Ram Air Turbines (RATs) that provide critical emergency power to aircraft. Our Ram Air Turbines have helped save aircraft and more than 2,600 lives.
As an NDT Technician, you will apply established nondestructive testing principles, methods, equipment, and inspection techniques to ensure products meet applicable specifications and customer requirements.

What You Will Do:
• Set up, standardize, and operate NDT equipment; perform inspections; interpret and evaluate results; and document findings for acceptance or rejection. • Perform system performance checks in accordance with applicable process standards. • Maintain a thorough understanding of the scope, capabilities, and limitations of the NDT methods in which you are certified. • Apply applicable codes, standards, specifications, and contractual requirements governing NDT processes at Collins Aerospace. • Provide technical guidance and/or supervision to trainees and Level 1 or Level 1 Limited personnel within your certified NDT methods. • Develop and document NDT work instructions, with approval from the responsible Level 3. • Maintain required NDT certifications, including successful completion of written and practical examinations and five-year recertification requirements. • Apply basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and inspection technologies to evaluate aerospace hardware. • Safely handle and move hardware using push carts and pallet jacks. • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
What You Will Learn: In this role, you will gain hands-on experience with nondestructive testing in a highly regulated aerospace manufacturing environment. You will have opportunities to:
• Develop and expand your expertise in NDT methods such as Magnetic Particle, Penetrant, Automated Ultrasonic Inspection, Eddy Current, and Temper Etch inspection. • Learn how NDT processes are applied to highly engineered aerospace components used in critical aircraft systems. • Build experience interpreting inspection results against engineering specifications, standards, and customer requirements. • Develop knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes and precision inspection techniques. • Gain experience working within a quality system focused on personnel safety, product integrity, and regulatory compliance. • Develop leadership and mentoring skills by supporting trainees and Level 1 personnel. • Expand your understanding of NDT work instructions, process standards, and certification requirements.
Qualifications You Must Have:
• Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience • Must be able to successfully complete written and practical examinations required for applicable NDT certifications and maintain certification through required five-year recertification examinations. • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position, which may include: • Standing and walking for extended periods. • Lifting and carrying up to 35 pounds. • Bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, and crawling. • Reaching, grasping, gripping, pinching, and performing fine manipulation of delicate manufacturing pieces. • Using knee controls to operate Magnaflux equipment. • Contact with oils and chemical vapors from products during the normal manufacturing process • Must be able to safely operate push carts and pallet jacks to move hardware.
Qualifications We Prefer:
• Previous NAS-410 NDT Level 2 certification in one or more of the following NDT methods: • Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) • Penetrant Testing (PT) • Ultrasonic Testing (UT) • Eddy Current (ET) • Associate degree in Nondestructive Testing Technology. • Experience using basic measuring instruments and hand tools. • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including addition and subtraction of decimal values. • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints. • Basic understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) • Previous experience in aerospace manufacturing, quality inspection, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
