About this role
Freese and Nichols is seeking a Construction Manager to join our team in Houston, Texas. As Construction Manager, you will lead multiple complex water and wastewater treatment construction projects while providing technical direction and people leadership to construction teams. You will work closely with owners, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams to manage construction risk, maintain quality and help deliver projects that support clients’ long-term operational needs.
What You’ll Do
• Lead construction management for multiple complex water and wastewater treatment projects, coordinating project teams, contractors and owner stakeholders from preconstruction through closeout • Oversee construction administration activities including change and field orders, schedules, submittals, RFIs, claims, pay requests, construction meetings and project closeout • Direct construction activities involving treatment process systems, site and yard piping, structures, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, instrumentation and related facility improvements • Manage construction risks, issues, dependencies and constraints, developing and implementing solutions while keeping clients and project teams informed • Oversee construction quality by reviewing contractor work for conformance with plans, specifications and contract requirements and directing resolution of non-conforming work • Lead and develop construction staff through work assignments, coaching, performance feedback and career development while coordinating staffing needs across projects • Partner with owners and design teams to manage construction sequencing, facility interfaces, planned shutdowns and other work affecting active water and wastewater treatment operations • Build long-term client relationships and support business development, pursuit and client engagement efforts for construction management and water and wastewater treatment services
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience • 10+ years of relevant construction experience serving as a construction manager or superintendent • Experience directly supervising staff and leading construction teams across multiple projects • Advanced proficiency with project management information systems and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel • Understanding of alternate project delivery methods, construction contract administration and complex project coordination Preferred
• Professional Engineer (P.E.), Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA) credential • Water or wastewater treatment facility construction experience • Experience managing construction in active treatment facilities, including sequencing, shutdowns and coordination with owner operations • Experience with treatment process equipment, process piping, mechanical systems, electrical systems and instrumentation • Experience leading business development, client relationship management or construction management pursuits
