Summary Job Description: Patient Access Coordinator Full Time I First Shift Heart & Valve Clinic I Lexington, KY The Heart Valve Clinic provides specialized evaluation, coordination, and management of patients with valvular heart disease. The clinic collaborates with cardiology and cardiothoracic teams to deliver timely, evidence-based care, support treatment planning, and enhance patient outcomes through coordinated, patient-centered services. Description:
• The Patient Access Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and providers, creating a welcoming experience while ensuring accurate registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and collection processes. • This role is responsible for maintaining the integrity of patient records, supporting clinic operations, and delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced specialty care environment. • Greet patients and visitors in a timely, professional, and courteous manner. • Answer and direct incoming calls, return messages promptly, and maintain excellent phone etiquette. • Serve as a liaison between patients and clinical staff, keeping patients informed of delays and addressing concerns appropriately. • Accurately register patients and verify existing records to maintain data integrity and avoid duplicate medical records. • Schedule appointments according to established policies and document referral information and chief complaints. • Contact patients to confirm appointment details, including date, time, location, and financial responsibility. • Collect, review, and update patient demographic, insurance, and financial information. • Obtain required signatures for consent to treatment, financial policies, privacy notices, and releases of information. • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, corporate compliance, and regulatory standards. • Document patient interactions, appointment status changes, and account activity accurately within the registration system. • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage through payer websites and carrier contacts. • Determine patient financial responsibility and collect payments in accordance with point-of-service collection policies. • Process receipts, reconcile daily cash, checks, and credit card transactions, and prepare deposits and balancing documentation. • Participate in required safety, compliance, and patient safety training programs. • Support clinic operations and perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• High School Diploma or equivalent. • Strong computer skills required. • Less than one year.
