Make an Impact with Baystate Health Baystate Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our South Wing 5 Adult Medical Surgical Intermediate Care unit at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Our South Wing 5 Adult Medical/Surgical Intermediate Care Unit provides care for the adult patient population with 32 beds, primarily surgical and trauma with medical intercare overflow. This unit offers participation in nurse driven change projects, great nursing ratios, and optimal support staff.

The Patient Care Technician role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patients’ lives while gaining hands-on clinical experience and building a strong foundation for career growth in healthcare while working alongside a collaborative care team dedicated to delivering high-quality, compassionate patient care.

The Patient Care Technician Will:

• Provided safe, age-appropriate patient care, assisting with activities of daily living, mobility, elimination, and personal care while promoting patient dignity and safety. • Monitored and accurately documented vital signs, weights, intake/output, and other physiological parameters; promptly reported significant changes in patient condition to nursing staff. • Assisted with treatments, procedures, dressing changes, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and physician examinations in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. • Provided one-to-one patient observation as needed, recognized changes in patient condition or safety concerns, and responded appropriately to emergency situations. • Collaborated effectively with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members while maintaining clear communication, accurate documentation, and patient-centered care.

Schedule Details

• Job Type: Part-Time • Shift: Days • Hours: 24 • Schedule: Two twelve hour shifts per week • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Required Skills

• High School diploma or GED • BLS CPR Certification through American Heart Association Preferred Qualifications & Skills

• At least one year of patient care experience (this experience can vary in level of long-term care, specialty, acute care • PCT training or CNA training

Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
