This position reports to: Product Group R&D Portfolio Manager __ Your role and responsibilities ABB is a technology leader in power control solutions. Within our High Power Converters business, we develop world-class power controllers that help customers across industries improve energy efficiency, process quality, and operational reliability.
We are looking for a skilled and people-oriented Development Manager to join our ABB Motion High Power Converters R&D organization in Helsinki. In this role, you will lead a team of Project Managers responsible for delivering product development projects within a complex technology environment. You will play a key role in developing project management capabilities, supporting project execution excellence, and ensuring effective resource utilization across the organization. Our R&D organization is a technically rewarding place to work, where you will collaborate closely with R&D managers, project teams, product management, and other stakeholders to drive successful project outcomes and continuously improve project management practices.

We offer a hybrid working model, but the role requires on-site presence at our offices in Pitäjänmäki.
You will be mainly accountable for: • Leading, coaching and developing a team of Project Managers in Helsinki • Ensuring effective planning, execution, monitoring and reporting of product development projects • Supporting project prioritization and resource allocation in collaboration with R&D leadership • Promoting ongoing improvements to project management methods, tools, and workflows • Fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance within the team • Supporting Project Managers in risk management, issue resolution and stakeholder communication • Contributing to organizational development and strategic R&D initiatives
Qualifications for the role • Master's degree in Engineering, Technology, or a related field • Several years of experience in project management within product development, R&D, or industrial technology • Previous experience in leading teams, preferably in a project-driven environment • Strong leadership, coaching and communication skills • Ability to align diverse stakeholder needs and priorities to achieve project objectives • Experience in product development processes and project governance • Fluency in English and Finnish are required
The following qualifications are considered beneficial:
• Experience in electrification, drives, power electronics, automation, or industrial products • Professional project management certification, such as PMP, IPMA or equivalent
