This position reports to: Local Division Manager - Egypt Cluster __ Your role and responsibilities
In this role you will have the opportunity to lead a team of HSE experts. Each day, you will make sure the team keeps developing capabilities and skills, supporting the business in the implementation of policies, practices and programs. You will also showcase your expertise by driving behavioral change and HSE learning within the organization.
The work model for the role is: Onsite. This role is contributing to the PAEN in Egypt
You will be mainly accountable for:
• Supporting line managers and supervisors in the organization in understanding obligations, liabilities and requirements
• Ensuring appropriate tools and measures are in place and used effectively, at the same time reporting the HSE incidents.
• Reporting on HSE performance and progress with respect to the Group objectives
• Drive behavioral change and ensuring HSE capabilities are optimized and aligned to standards and best practices

Qualifications for the role
• 10 to 15 years of progressive HSE experience within industrial, engineering, EPC/project-execution or field-service environments, ideally within the oil & gas, power, petrochemical or electrification/automation sectors, including at least 5 years in an HSE leadership role managing a team across a multi-site or multi-country scope.
• Proven track record of building HSE management systems, driving incident reduction, and leading behavioral/cultural change programs.
• Experience across emerging African markets, particularly Nigeria and Francophone Africa, is highly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or related discipline), Occupational Health & Safety, or Environmental Science.
• A recognized professional HSE certification (e.g. NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH, ISO 45001/14001 Lead Auditor) is required.
• An advanced HSE, sustainability or business/MBA qualification is an advantage.
• Deep knowledge of HSE management systems, ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) and ISO 14001 (Environmental) standards, and ABB’s global HSE policies and management-system requirements. Strong understanding of process-industry HSE risk (Oil & Gas, LNG, Refining, Petrochemicals, Power, Water & Wastewater) including field-service hazards such as electrical, mechanical, confined-space, working-at-height and lifting operations.
• Knowledge of local HSE legislation across the cluster’s countries (Egypt, Nigeria and wider Sub-Saharan/Francophone Africa) and experience adapting global standards to local regulatory contexts is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with incident investigation methodologies (root-cause analysis), HSE auditing and behavior-based safety programs.
• Fluent in English and Arabic (written and spoken).
• Working knowledge of French is strongly preferred, to support HSE oversight of the Francophone Africa expansion.
