This position reports to: Support Services Manager __ We are looking to strengthen our team by filling a newly opened Trade Compliance support position at our European Operations Center in Ostrava. This role (Trade Compliance Support Function – TCSF) will primarily provide support to the sales teams of international divisions (LDs) regarding the classification of products, software, and technologies (both ABB and third-party goods) that these divisions export or import. Classification will be conducted in accordance with export control regulations (dual-use goods and military material) applicable in the Czech Republic, the EU, or the USA, as well as EU customs classification standards (Harmonized System). All information will be recorded in the SAP GTS system.

Your key responsibilities: Providing support for goods classification—ideally well in advance of export, import, or shipment, but also in situations requiring rapid customs clearance or involving customs authority inspections. Verifying ECN/ECCN and HTS classifications in cooperation with the relevant division's international trade team (CZ LD Trade team) and updating master data in SAP GTS with this classification information as needed. Supporting the regular analysis of goods scheduled for delivery in the coming months, as well as the identification and classification of products, software, and/or technologies (particularly in the event of significant legislative changes), in collaboration with the division's sales team. Acting as a trusted advisor on international trade matters; leveraging expertise in import/export processes, customs regulations, and indirect tax issues to support business decision-making and ensure regulatory compliance. Conducting sanctions and embargo list screenings upon request (providing backup coverage). Continuously maintaining and expanding knowledge of export controls and customs regulations through relevant internal and external training, e-learning courses (on ABB Inside / ABB University platforms), and the study of applicable internal policies, guidelines, and manuals.

Who we are looking for: Do you have a secondary or university education and/or relevant professional experience (logistics, foreign trade, or a similar field)? – an advantage Knowledge of customs matters; experience with the import/export of goods and dual-use goods Knowledge of the TARIC system and its structure Communicative proficiency in Czech and English (written and verbal communication, B2 level) Knowledge of export control rules (EU, USA) and customs regulations (relevant to goods classification) Attention to detail, diligence, and a desire to work in an international team Experience working with MS Excel Willingness to work in a virtual team Business mindset and the ability to respond flexibly Eagerness to learn new things Initiative and ability to work independently
