About this role

Position Summary: We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Limited Scope X-Ray Technician (Radiology Practical Technician) to join our healthcare team full-time. The Limited Scope X-Ray Technician will be responsible for safely and accurately performing designated diagnostic imaging procedures within their scope of licensure, while providing a professional, compassionate experience for patients. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment and prioritizes patient safety, image quality, and confidentiality.

Schedule: Weekdays and Saturday mornings

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform diagnostic X-ray imaging procedures within the scope of a Radiology Practical Technician license, following provider orders.

• Verify patient identification and ensure imaging orders, exposure settings, and positioning are correct for each study.

• Prepare patients for imaging procedures and explain the process to help ease anxiety or discomfort.

• Position patients correctly and use proper shielding techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.

• Follow established radiation safety protocols, infection control procedures, and equipment operating guidelines.

• Review images for quality and technical accuracy before submitting to providers; repeat studies as needed following protocol.

• Maintain and calibrate imaging equipment; report malfunctions promptly.

• Accurately document procedures, patient information, and imaging results in the patient record.

• Refer any imaging needs outside the scope of licensure to an appropriately credentialed team member.

• Provide professional and compassionate patient service.

• Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and other members of the healthcare team.

• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational policies.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Completion of an accredited limited scope radiography or radiologic technology training program required.

• Current Utah state licensure as a Radiology Practical Technician through the Division of Professional Licensing (DOPL) required.

• Passing score on the ARRT Limited Scope Exam (core plus at least one additional section) or the ARRT Bone Densitometry Equipment Operators exam required prior to applying for Utah licensure.

• Candidates currently licensed as a radiology practical technician in another state, territory, or district of the U.S. may apply for licensure by endorsement.

• CPR/BLS certification preferred.

• Previous experience in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently while following established procedures and radiation safety standards, within the defined scope of licensure.

• Ability to remain calm and professional when working with patients who may be nervous or uncomfortable with imaging procedures.

Work Environment:

• Generally indoor setting

• Frequent use of a computer and imaging equipment

• Varying schedule to include evenings, weekends, and holidays as business dictates
