Location: Millbrook Food Hub Employment Type: Part-time term position (to a maximum of 26 weeks) Number of Positions: To be determined

Wage: $18.15 per hour Hours: Approximately 10 - 15 hours per week (including evenings and weekends; flexible scheduling available)

We’re looking for friendly and dependable folks to join our Food Hub team!

The Ulnooweg Education Centre (UEC) is seeking enthusiastic Indigenous applicants to join our team of Food Hub Associates. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional environment while supporting youth-focused programming and advancing food security in the Millbrook community. This is a developmental opportunity for Millbrook community members to gain current work experience in a community centred environment.

What You’ll Do

• Welcome and assist customers.

• Operate the cash register.

• Stock shelves and organize food.

• Receive and organize deliveries.

• Check food and produce for freshness.

• Help keep the Food Hub clean and welcoming.

• Assist with workshops and community activities.

• Help with other day-to-day Food Hub tasks.

What We’re Looking For

Someone who is:

• Friendly, reliable, and respectful.

• Comfortable working with people.

• Willing to learn and work as part of a team.

• Interested in food, retail, and community.

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

• Basic numeracy skills required.

• Previous retail or food service experience is an asset but not required.

• May be required to lift up to 20 lbs, stand for long periods of time, and complete physical work involving bending, lifting, and reaching.

Training & Skill Development

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain practical experience in a community-based food retail environment and develop skills for future employment and leadership opportunities. Training will be provided. This entry level position is designed to help the successful candidate build practical retail, customer service, cash-handling, merchandising, and workplace skills through meaningful hands-on learning opportunities.

• This opportunity is open to Millbrook Band or status community member(s) only.

• Must be able to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check prior to employment.

• Willingness to work various shifts including evenings and/or weekends.
