About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Paralegal to join a growing Employment team, supporting employer clients on a broad range of non-contentious employment law matters.

Working closely with senior solicitors, you will play a key role in advising clients on day-to-day HR and employment issues, preparing employment documentation, conducting legal research, and supporting wider client projects. This role offers excellent exposure to a variety of advisory employment law work and provides a strong platform for career development within a collaborative and client-focused team.

Key responsibilities

• Support fee earners in managing a varied caseload of non-contentious employment law matters.

• Draft, review and amend employment contracts, service agreements, policies, procedures, staff handbooks, workplace documentation, and settlement agreements.

• Assist in advising employer clients on day-to-day HR and employment law matters, including disciplinary and grievance procedures, capability, absence management, performance issues, discrimination, whistleblowing, redundancy, TUPE, flexible working, family leave, and employment status.

• Conduct legal research and prepare accurate, practical summaries and recommendations.

• Support clients with organisational change projects, restructures, redundancies, and TUPE transfers.

• Prepare client communications, advisory notes, legal updates, and training materials.

• Liaise with clients and external stakeholders, ensuring matters progress efficiently and clients receive a high standard of service.

• Maintain accurate case records, document management, time recording, and billing information in line with firm procedures.

• Support business development initiatives through articles, legal updates, client events, and networking opportunities.

• Collaborate with colleagues across the wider business, particularly on corporate transactions and other cross-disciplinary matters requiring employment law input.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, professional standards, and internal risk management policies.

Essential criteria

• Previous experience as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or equivalent role within employment law.

• Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills.

• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.

Desirable criteria

• Experience supporting employment aspects of corporate transactions, restructures, or TUPE projects.

• Law degree, Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL), CILEX qualification, or equivalent legal qualification.

• Experience preparing client training materials, legal updates, or employment law guidance notes.

• A genuine interest in developing a long-term career in employment law.
