Your mission:

As a Purchaser at Reliable Controls, you’ll help keep our manufacturing operations moving by ensuring the right materials are available at the right time. You’ll build strong supplier relationships, negotiate pricing and terms, manage purchase orders, and proactively address shortages and other supply risks. Working closely with Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality, you’ll help solve supply challenges and identify opportunities to strengthen our supply chain.

In this role you will:

• Source and evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, delivery performance, and technical capability.

• Initiate RFQs and negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms with suppliers.

• Procure materials for prototypes, production, and other business needs to support project and manufacturing timelines.

• Monitor inventory, material requirements, open purchase orders, and supplier commitments to identify shortages and maintain continuity of supply.

• Manage purchase orders from creation through delivery, including expediting, rescheduling, or cancelling orders as requirements change.

• Proactively address supply risks such as shortages, extended lead times, allocation constraints, price changes, and component obsolescence.

• Monitor supplier performance and resolve quality, delivery, pricing, and non-conformance issues in partnership with suppliers and internal teams.

• Support engineering changes, supplier transitions, and product lifecycle planning to minimize supply and inventory risk.

• Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier information within the ERP system to support effective planning and procurement decisions.

• Partner with Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality to improve procurement processes, supplier performance, and overall supply chain effectiveness.

This role might be right for you if you have:

• 3–5 years of progressive purchasing or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.

• Experience interpreting BOMs, drawings, and technical specifications to support engineering and manufacturing needs.

• A solid understanding of electronic components and supply risks, including lead times, allocation, obsolescence, and product lifecycle.

• Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate supplier options and make informed recommendations.

• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems

• Intermediate Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, reporting, and data analysis.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and cross-functional teams.

You’ll be successful in this position if you:

• Show ownership and accountability in your work, and proactively address issues before they impact Manufacturing.

• Can balance multiple priorities and adapt quickly as requirements change.

• Enjoy digging into problems, analyzing information, and finding practical solutions.

• Build collaborative relationships with suppliers and internal teams while navigating challenging conversations when needed.

• Look for opportunities to improve processes and are comfortable working in an evolving environment.
