About this role

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Controller to oversee the financial and accounting operations of a growing three-dealership automotive group. This is a key leadership position responsible for maintaining financial accuracy, strengthening internal controls, supporting dealership leadership, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting across all three rooftops.

The ideal candidate has strong automotive dealership accounting experience, understands the unique demands of a multi-store operation, and can lead accounting teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting operations for three dealerships.

• Manage and develop dealership accounting personnel.

• Prepare and review monthly financial statements and dealership financial reports.

• Ensure accurate posting, reconciliation, and reporting of all dealership transactions.

• Monitor cash flow, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and floorplan activity.

• Ensure accurate inventory accounting, vehicle receivables, and deal posting.

• Maintain strong internal controls and compliance with company policies.

• Coordinate and support month-end and year-end closing processes.

• Work closely with department managers to analyze financial performance.

• Work closely with CFO to review monthly financials and prepare forecasts.

• Monitor manufacturer and lender requirements and ensure timely reporting.

• Provide senior leadership with financial analysis and recommendations.

• Ensure consistent accounting procedures and best practices across all three dealerships.

Qualifications

• Previous automotive dealership accounting/controller experience strongly preferred.

• Experience overseeing accounting for multiple dealerships or locations is highly desirable.

• Strong knowledge of dealership financial statements and accounting principles (preferably CDK).

• Experience with dealership management systems and accounting software.

• Proven leadership and team-management skills.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with dealership leadership.

• High level of integrity, accuracy, confidentiality, and accountability.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience
