Overview

A privately held holding company, along with its subsidiary high-performing operating company, is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide strategic and financial operational leadership for the organization. Our entrepreneurial, growing organization values operational excellence alongside professional flexibility and quality-of-life. This executive must bring a blend of operational finance expertise, investment sophistication, and capital markets acumen to support an expanding platform.

This executive will bridge between high-level strategy and hands-on financial operational discipline to augment the executive team and drive growth across expanding markets. Operating extensively within the construction and commercial real estate sectors where business development is vital, we require a deal-maker capable of seamless cross-functional integration and execution.

The ideal candidate has served in a senior financial role within a $40M+ revenue organization and has built out institutional-grade investment modeling and process, capital stack structuring, and investor relations capabilities. This individual will be a key point of contact for internal leadership, investor groups, and financing institutions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Financial Leadership

• Develop and lead an integrated financial strategy across the organization

• Provide actionable insights on project performance, capital deployment, and portfolio returns to drive enterprise-wide decision-making.

• Establish tailored KPIs and financial dashboards.

2. CRE Investment & Capital Markets Ownership

• Build, refine, and maintain institutional-quality investment models, including:

• Acquisition underwriting

• Development pro formas

• Operating asset projections

• Capital stack optimization

• Waterfall structures and investor return analysis

• Scenario & sensitivity modeling

• Lead financial evaluation for acquisitions, development opportunities, and major capital projects.

• Support debt procurement, lender negotiations, and financing packages for both corporate needs and asset-level transactions.

4. Stakeholder & Investor Engagement

• Serve as the financial voice for the organization, delivering high-quality reporting and strategic insights.

• Prepare and present financial packages for investor committees, partner reviews, and capital raise initiatives.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with Development, Operations, Asset Management, and Executive teams.

5. Financial Planning, Reporting & Controls

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, treasury management, and liquidity planning across general business and the real estate portfolio.

• Strengthen financial controls, accounting integrity, and compliance frameworks to support scalable growth.

• Interface with auditors, banking partners, and external advisors to uphold best-in-class governance.

Required Qualifications

Industry & Functional Experience

• 10+ years of senior finance hands on leadership, with deep experience in:

• Services financial operations

• Construction Company

• Commercial real estate investment, development, or asset management

• Track record of success in companies with $40M+ annual revenue, preferably in vertically integrated or multi-entity family office structures.

• Strong executive presence with the ability to distill complex financial matters into clear, actionable insights.

Investment & Analytical Acumen

• Expert-level proficiency in financial modeling, underwriting, and capital stack structuring.

• Demonstrated ability to build full investment model capabilities from the ground up, including standardized templates, sensitivity analyses, and institutional reporting.

• Experience coordinating acquisitions, development projects, and debt/equity financing efforts.

Technical Competencies

• Familiarity with financial systems and project management tools (e.g., Procore, Sage, CMiC, Viewpoint).

• Proficiency with CRE modeling tools (e.g., Argus) and advanced Excel-based pro forma development.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required.

• CPA / CFA or similar accreditations required

$275,000–$325,000 base salary
