GeoSpectrum is growing and has a new career opportunity for an experienced Occupational Health and Safety Manager!

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Compliance & Assets, the Occupational Health & Safety Manager plays a key role in leading and continuously enhancing GeoSpectrum Technologies' Occupational Health & Safety Program. This position is responsible for driving compliance with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, and company standards while providing leadership in workplace safety, risk management, incident prevention, employee training, and safety initiatives across all company facilities and operations.

As the organization's subject matter expert on health and safety matters, the Occupational Health & Safety Manager partners closely with managers, supervisors, employees, and the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee (JOHSC) to support a strong and proactive safety culture. The role leads a broad range of activities, including hazard identification, workplace inspections, incident investigations, program development, regulatory reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing organizational risk and supporting a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Occupational Health & Safety Management System, policies, programs, and standards.

• Ensure compliance with OH&S legislation, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices while monitoring changes and organizational impacts.

• Conduct workplace inspections, hazard assessments, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and risk evaluations to identify and mitigate safety risks.

• Lead incident, injury, near miss, and safety investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action planning.

• Plan and deliver safety training, orientations, toolbox talks, and awareness programs to promote a strong safety culture.

• Partner with managers, supervisors, employees, and the JOHSC to support safety initiatives, investigations, inspections, and continuous improvement efforts.

• Develop, maintain, and evaluate emergency response plans, drills, and preparedness activities to support employee safety and business continuity.

• Lead internal audits, inspections, compliance reviews, and support regulatory inspections and reporting requirements.

• Track safety performance metrics, analyze trends, and provide recommendations and reporting to leadership on risks, compliance, and improvement opportunities.

• Maintain accurate safety documentation, records, and reporting systems while ensuring corrective and preventative actions are implemented and monitored to completion.

• Perform other related duties as assigned in support of health, safety, and organizational objectives.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

5+ years of progressive Occupational Health & Safety experience in manufacturing, industrial, technical, or operational environments.

Experience developing and implementing Health & Safety Management Systems.

Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and workplace audits.

Experience leading workplace safety committees and cross-functional safety initiatives.

Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation preferred.

Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC) or equivalent designation considered an asset.

WHMIS Instructor, Incident Investigation, Auditor, or related certifications considered assets.

Transferable Skills

• Thorough understanding of Occupational Health & Safety legislation and regulatory requirements.

• Strong knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, accident prevention, and corrective action processes.

• Experience with safety audits, compliance inspections, and management systems.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and safety reporting systems.

Security Requirements

All candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain Canadian Controlled Goods and Canadian Government Security clearances.
