Reports to: Vice President of IT

Position Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Position Summary

The Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the bank’s technology environment. This role manages system lifecycle planning, infrastructure performance, security remediation, and disaster recovery readiness while providing advanced technical support. The Systems Engineer ensures systems are secure, reliable and aligned with operational needs across all locations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Represent American Bank in a professional and courteous manner.

• Manage the lifecycle of systems, including operating systems, applications, and hardware (evaluation, upgrades, and replacement).

• Assist in cost analysis, proposals, and selection of new hardware and software solutions.

• Design, implement, and maintain server and network infrastructure.

• Support disaster recovery planning and testing, including backups and system continuity.

• Manage user access, permissions, and mobile devices.

• Monitor system performance, alerts, and vulnerabilities; remediate issues in accordance with change management practices.

• Configure, deploy, and maintain servers, devices, and software.

• Maintain system documentation, procedures, and technical resources.

• Monitor security, OEM issues, and industry developments via user groups and social platforms.

• Track and manage hardware/software inventory and coordinate with vendors.

• Provide Level 2 support for end users:

• Deliver technical support and customer service for hardware and software issues.

• Diagnose and resolve incidents following established protocols, escalating when appropriate.

• Communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users.

• Assist with system access, security permissions, and account management.

• Support web development-related tasks.

• Manage mobile devices (e.g., iPhones, iPads).

• Stay current on industry trends, security risks, and emerging technologies.

• Participate in committees, projects, and cross-functional initiatives.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

• Satisfactorily complete all required compliance bank training and comply with all regulations which apply within the scope of the position.

• Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in an IT related field preferred.

Experience: 4-6 years of hands-on systems administration, network support, or IT infrastructure.

Skills:

• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to understand, analyze, and clearly communicate complex technical systems.

• Effective interpersonal and customer service skills.

• Sound judgement and decision-making in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.

• Working knowledge of M365, Windows OS, Active Directory, networking, security practices, and mobile device management (MDM).

• Experience with system administration, hardware, and enterprise applications.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.

Work Environment

• Work environment is indoors in a clean atmosphere with normal noise levels.

• Standard business hours of 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday with occasional extended hours for projects or audits.

• Exposed to potentially hazardous condition—robbery. Receives detailed instructions and procedures to follow and minimize the risk.

Essential Functions:

• Ability to communicate effectively (seeing, hearing, speaking).

• Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and manage multiple tasks.

• Ability to operate standard office equipment.

• Ability to move throughout facilities and lift up to 30 lbs.

Travel Requirements:

• I understand that even though my primary work assignment will be in my main branch; I agree to go to any other location requested by management. I understand that such temporary re-assignment will require the use of my personal vehicle. If I am requested to spend the entire day at a non-primary location, American Bank will pay for my time spent traveling which is inclusive from the time I leave my home to the time I return to my home. In addition, any time that I use my personal vehicle in such travel, I understand that American Bank will reimburse my mileage at the current designated IRS mileage reimbursement rate.

Pay Grade: 13
