North Lakes Children’s Services is a well-established provider of therapeutic residential care and education for boys aged 6–18. Our mission is to improve the resilience, self-esteem and life outcomes of the young people we support.

We are excited to launch a brand-new four-bed children’s residential home in Carlisle and are seeking an experienced, passionate and child-focused Children’s Home Registered Manager to lead the service from the very beginning.

About the Role

As the Children’s Home Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the effective leadership, management and development of the home.

You will ensure the service operates in line with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, safeguarding requirements and North Lakes Children’s Services’ policies, values and standards.

You will lead, inspire and develop a high-performing team, ensuring young people receive high-quality care and support that promotes positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Provide strong leadership and management of the home and staff team.Ensure the home’s Statement of Purpose remains accurate and reflective of service delivery.Maintain compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, North Lakes Children’s Services’ policies and safeguarding requirements.Monitor and continuously improve service quality and standards.Lead staff supervision, performance management, appraisals and professional development.Identify staff development and training needs and support the delivery of training where required.Ensure effective communication systems are in place across the team.Manage budgets and resources efficiently.Maintain accurate records and administrative systems.Promote and uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity and confidentiality requirements.Oversee health and safety compliance and ensure the home remains safe and well maintained.Support the induction and development of new team members.Create a positive and supportive culture focused on achieving the very best outcomes for young people. To be successful in this role, you will have:

Essential

A strong understanding of the challenges faced by children and young people in careA relevant Level 3 qualification in residential childcare, Children and Young People’s Workforce, health and social care, or an equivalent qualificationA relevant Level 5 leadership and management qualification for residential childcare, or equivalentPrevious management experience within children’s residential servicesExcellent communication, leadership and people-management skillsThe ability to motivate, lead and develop a staff teamA full UK driving licenceFlexibility to work across other homes if required Desirable

Experience working with young people with emotional and behavioural needsExperience across residential childcare, social care or youth work settings What We Offer
