The role
This post offers an exciting opportunity for a one-year research placement in respiratory infection. The post would be suited to a Foundation doctor Year 2 (FY2) or Internal Medical Trainee equivalent before starting specialist training. (i.e FY2-IMT3). The post will be hosted within the Academic Respiratory Unit at the University of Bristol, with an honorary contract with North Bristol NHS Trust.
What will you be doing?
Lead on recruitment to studies in respiratory infection Develop research skills around data analysis and interpretation Attend and present at academic conferences and educational meetings, nationally and internationally Write scientific manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals Contribute to teaching, audit, and quality improvement within the respiratory service There are no mandatory on-call duties or out-of-hours work associated with the post.
You should apply if
You have:
Strong clinical experience in medicine with evidence of a commitment to respiratory medicine. Prior experience of working on clinical studies. A track record of publications in leading peer review academic journals in medicine Demonstration of understanding, and commitment to, an academic career.

Contract type: Fixed term contract (05.08.26 to 03.08.26) to cover maternity leave
Work pattern: 40 hours per week (1.0 FTE)
