About this role

Sizewell C’s business is to design, finance, construct, commission, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure at Sizewell C in Suffolk. Overall, whilst the Company is in the construction phase, the Boards’ principal focus is on the development and construction of Sizewell C on time, on budget and to the highest quality and safety standards. The Company is maturing to meet all these requirements.

Sizewell C is economically regulated by OFGEM under the RAB model similar to other UK electricity distribution networks and Thames Tideway.

Sizewell C construction strategy is to replicate the design of Hinkley Point C, using the majority of the same supply chain, but innovating in the way it is delivered to achieve savings in time and cost of around 20%. The CCO will need to be guided by and incorporate lessons learned from the Hinkley Point C commercial delivery to achieve Sizewell C’s ambition.

Following Financial Completion and Revenue Commencement, Sizewell C is fully funded and is owned by; The Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero representing HM Government, La Caisse, Centrica, EDF and Amber Infrastructure.

Salary: £115,000 - £140,000 + benefits

Lead a Major Infrastructure Project

Sizewell C is delivering one of Europe's largest and most complex clean energy projects. We are seeking an experienced Area Delivery Lead - Heavy Civils / Earthworks to lead the safe and successful delivery of major earthworks, enabling works, heavy civils, infrastructure and building packages.Reporting to the Site Delivery Leadership Team, you will take ownership of a major construction area, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Leadership & Delivery

Lead the delivery of major Heavy Civils, Earthworks, Enabling Works and Infrastructure packages.Take ownership of programme delivery within your geographical area.Drive performance across safety, quality, cost and schedule objectives.Ensure construction activities are delivered in accordance with business and technical requirements.Monitor progress against key milestones and provide regular reporting to the Site Delivery Leadership Team.Identify, manage and resolve delivery challenges and programme risks. Principal Contractor Responsibilities

Act as the Geographical Area Lead for all works within your designated area.Represent the nominated Principal Contractor in accordance with CDM 2015 requirements.Ensure all interfacing activities are properly planned, managed, coordinated and monitored.Promote a strong safety culture and drive continuous improvement across all activities. Programme & Interface Management

Define work scope and manage interfaces with other project areas and programmes.Ensure Level 3 schedules are developed and aligned to overall project schedules.Review contractor programmes and rolling schedules.Monitor contractor performance and drive delivery improvements.Ensure all scope deliverables are completed in accordance with programme requirements.Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to monitor and improve performance. Stakeholder & Regulatory Engagement

Maintain strong and productive relationships with contractors, consultants, regulators and internal stakeholders.Act as an intelligent customer on behalf of Sizewell C.Engage with key regulatory bodies including:Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR), Environment Agency (EA), Local AuthoritiesSupport compliance with Nuclear Site Licence Conditions and project governance arrangements. Leadership & Team Management

Lead multidisciplinary teams across engineering, construction, planning and project controls.Provide clear direction and support to project delivery teams.Foster collaboration, accountability and high-performance behaviours.Promote lessons learned and knowledge sharing across the programme. This role carries significant leadership responsibility and influence across the programme, including:

Leadership of 10+ direct reports.Management of matrix teams across multiple disciplines.Oversight of up to 1,000 contractor personnel.Accountability for critical construction areas and major work packages.Management of complex stakeholder and contractor interfaces.Responsibility for significant budgets, risks and programme outcomes.
