About this role
Job description:
Location: Sheffield (Hybrid/Flexible working)
Contract: 12-Month Fixed Term (15 June 2026 – 14 June 2027)
Are you a "people person" with a knack for keeping things organised? Do you enjoy seeing a plan come together and knowing you’ve made a real difference?
We are looking for an enthusiastic Community Engagement Assistant to join our friendly, high-energy team. In this role, you aren't just doing admin - you are the bridge between our successful global graduates and the next generation of students.
What’s in it for you?
Real Impact: You’ll see firsthand how your work helps students build confidence and launch their careers. Broad Experience: From digital marketing to high-profile event management, you’ll build a diverse toolkit of professional skills. A Supportive Culture: Join a small, dynamic team that values new ideas, collaboration, and a supportive environment.
What you’ll be doing
You will be at the centre of our volunteer operations, ensuring our community of 300,000 former students stays connected and inspired.
As the first point of contact for alumni eager to give back their time as volunteers, you will connect them with staff looking for guest speakers, mentors, or career hosts. You’ll partner with academic departments to identify where alumni can add value, providing expert advice on how to recruit and engage volunteers effectively. You’ll lead the logistics for our key events, handling everything from registration lists to welcome desks and virtual networking rooms. You’ll manage our "Story Bank" of 200+ career profiles and craft and send newsletters reaching over 140,000 people worldwide. You’ll use your initiative to spot ways to make our volunteering programs more inclusive, efficient, and impactful.
About You
You’ll be a great fit if you are a problem-solver who loves building relationships. We are looking for:
You’re a great communicator: You provide excellent customer care and can talk to anyone - from a first-year student to a senior graduate. You have a sharp eye for detail: You pride yourself on accuracy. You can distill complex information into "must-know" facts and provide professional advice to a wide range of people. You’re an expert multi-tasker: You have a track record of managing varied workloads and can stay calm when priorities shift. You’re digitally confident: You are a pro with MS Office (Word, Excel) and feel at home using apps like Zoom or Google Meet to host virtual meetings. (Experience with customer databases is a bonus, but we can teach you that!)
