This position is funded through federal funds. Employment in this position is contingent upon the availability and continuation of federal funding. Position Summary Implement and manage an effective family engagement program for the Special Education department. Support a partnership among the schools, parents, and the community to improve student social and academic proficiency. Build families' capacity to become involved and improve their child's academic achievement. Encourage families to be actively involved in their child's education at school and to be full partners in that education. Guide families through information to make well-informed decisions for their families. Education/Certification High School Diploma/GED 48 College Hours Experience Experience as an instructor, trainer, or education program specialist Experience working collaboratively with constituents from diverse backgrounds, including parents/guardians, alumni, school administrators, teachers, partners, and community stakeholders Special Knowledge/Skills
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish both orally and in writing. Ability to interpret data and evaluate parent programs.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to utilize technology fluently.
• Experience collaborating with families on planning for their children's education. Exceptional customer service skills.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
• Serve as the liaison between schools and parents
• Provide parent engagement training for district staff
• Develop and follow a calendar of activities for parent engagement
• Assist campuses with the development and implementation of the parent engagement program
• Provide information, programs, activities, workshops, and newsletters for parents in a language and form that all parents understand
• Maintains accurate records of parent engagement documentation
• Prepares required Title I documentation
• Develop trusted relationships with community leaders and parents to execute a district-wide engagement strategy
• Delivers professional development for key personnel including teachers, principals, front-office staff, and family liaisons to ensure engagement standards and effective engagement practices are embedded in day-to-day work
• Encourages support of parental engagement activities within the schools and community
• Assesses, through consultation with parents and personnel, the effectiveness of the parental engagement program and determines action to be taken to increase parental participation
• Provides parental involvement session/meetings on pertinent topics
• Provides full opportunities for participation of parents with limited English proficiency, disabilities and/or low SES
• Performs other duties or special assignments as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor
