JOB DESCRIPTION: EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE: Appropriate Rhode Island teaching certificate A Professional or Life Professional Certificate from the Rhode Island Department of Education. Three (3) years of middle school teaching experience A minimum of five (5) years of recent classroom teaching experience within the specific curriculum area of responsibility A middle school endorsement Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities below, as evidenced by coursework, school-level involvement, professional activities, and the interview process. RESPONSIBILITIES: Commits to middle school goals and mission; Coordinates and facilitates the writing, implementation, and maintenance of a standards-based curriculum in the designated content area; Reviews and updates curriculum at least every three years with the teachers in the content area; Acts as a resource person on curriculum and disseminates all relevant content area information and materials to implement state and federal requirements; Works with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements. Facilitate a uniform implementation of standards based extension and enrichment opportunities for on level and above level curriculum content during specified times/class periods such as, but not limited to Academic Lab periods. Confers, as assigned by the principal, with high school department heads and elementary principals to ensure elementary-middle-high school curriculum articulation; Liaisons serve as members of the School Improvement Team. Makes recommendations, when appropriate, to the principal to facilitate curriculum coordination among the elementary, middle, and high school levels; Performs other duties as assigned by the principal or designee. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: TMS Salaries Ten-month position with a stipend of $3,500 (three-year position with the opportunity to reapply).
