Ponca City Public Schools Job Description Library Monitor Date: July 1, 2016 Reports to: Building Principal, Media Center Specialist Supervises: Students when a Classroom Teacher is not in the Library Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED Thorough Knowledge of Media Center Procedures and Equipment Job Goal: Oversees the day-to-day operation of the media center or perform duties under the direct supervision of a Library Media Specialist. Employment Terms: 9 Month Contract, 7.25 Hours per Day, Exclusive of a Lunch FLSA Classification: Nonexempt Evaluation: Annually by Building Principal Physical Demands: This is an overview intended for compliance with the ADA – it is not an exhaustive list of the duties to be performed. Regular Requirements: Stand for extended periods; walk; twist at the neck and trunk; bend and reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally; repetitive use of fingers and hands to grasp and/or operate equipment and demonstrate lessons to students; lift/move up to 15 pounds Occasional Requirements: Lift/move up to 25 pounds, ability to administer CPR Visual Requirements: Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performed Under the Direction of a Library Media Specialist:

• Ensures efficient management of the circulation desk, electronic card catalog, and computer lab.

• Instructs students on the proper use of print and electronic library and computer lab resources, including developing students' research, reference and critical thinking skills.

• Conducts an annual inventory, including discarding dated materials.

• Tracks overdue media center materials and notify students of outstanding items.

• Keeps media center in neat order throughout the day.

• Answers the telephone and takes messages.

• Delivers Audio/visual equipment; maintains inventory.

• Runs computer and audio/visual equipment as necessary.

• Assists in suggesting and locating instructional materials for teachers.

• Assists in maintaining files and records in library.

• Regularly participates in appropriate professional development opportunities.

• Utilizes professional behavior in all school related interactions.

• Complies with all federal, state and local laws and board policies and procedures.

• Performs all other tasks as supervisor may assign.
