About this role
The Boys' Assistant Basketball Coach at North Providence High School reports directly to the Principal and Athletic Director and is to perform all coaching and related duties as described. Applicants must be available for duty during all times established by the Principal’s Committee of Athletics for the particular sport involved to the completion of the schedule. This will include any tournaments for which the team might be eligible. Practice sessions are held daily. Duties:
• Teach fundamentals and skills.
• Organize and supervise practice sessions.
• Provide for care and prevention of injuries.
• Conform to rules established by the Athletic Director.
• Teach rules and regulations of the sport.
• Display good sportsmanship.
• Maintain control of all persons under supervision.
• Coordinate with the Athletic Director on all matters pertaining to the sport..
• Be certain that all candidates have had a physical examination.
• Submit list of names to Principal’s office for eligibility clearance.
• Assist in the issuing, maintaining and collecting of equipment.
• Assist in the budget and maintain an inventory of existing supplies.
• Supervise team members at all times.
Required:
• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Course
• NFHS Protecting Students from Abuse Course
• NFHS Concussion Course
• NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest Course
• NFHS First Aid, Health and Safety Course, or Red Cross or American Heart Association First Aid Certification or equivalent
• Red Cross, American Heart Association CPR Certification or equivalent Preferred:
• Complete knowledge of the sport involved
• Experience at the secondary or college level
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) If offered a position with the North Providence School Department, you are required to obtain a national criminal background check with fingerprinting obtained at the State Attorney General's Office. If your background check is returned and acceptable for employment, you will be asked to return to complete onboarding paperwork to include the "Employment Eligibility Verification, USCIS I-9" as required by the Department of Homeland Security. Here you will attest to your employment authorization and must also provide acceptable documents evidencing identity and employment authorization.
