Position Summary The Tripoli Community School District is seeking a dependable, positive, and team-oriented Assistant Girls Basketball Coach to support the Head Coach in developing student-athletes through instruction, competition, teamwork, sportsmanship, and character development. The Assistant Coach will assist with practices, games, player development, supervision, equipment, and other program responsibilities while promoting a safe, respectful, and positive athletic environment. Qualifications
• Previous basketball coaching or playing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of basketball fundamentals, rules, and strategies.
• Ability to communicate effectively with student-athletes, coaches, parents, and school staff.
• Ability to work cooperatively with the Head Coach and athletic department.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain required training.
• Must complete all required district and state coaching requirements.
• Dependable attendance, punctuality, and professional conduct.
Performance Responsibilities:
• Coaches individual participants in a particular sport using appropriate coaching strategies and techniques that can be used to improve the athlete and the activity.
• Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students. Provides standards and procedures in writing to the students.
• Transmits to his/her athletes (and the entire student body) the understanding of sportsmanship, control, and dedication by example.
• Possesses professional skills and knowledge to provide leadership and cooperation in the areas of method, techniques, strategies, and instruction.
• Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.
• Stays up to date with certifications and state qualifications.
• Works closely with the Activities Director in scheduling interscholastic contests.
• Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate.
• Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which the assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
• Enforces performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the assigned sport.
• Arranges transportation as needed in a timely manner.
• Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records, end of the year report and other paperwork as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Physical Requirements The employee must be able to:
• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Demonstrate basketball skills and participate in practices as appropriate.
• Bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive movements.
• Lift, carry, and move athletic equipment and supplies.
• Move throughout athletic facilities and respond to student-athlete needs.
• Respond appropriately to injuries, emergencies, and other safety concerns.
Working Conditions
• Work is performed primarily in the gymnasium, athletic facilities, and other school or competition locations.
• Work includes practices, games, tournaments, meetings, and other team activities.
• Schedule includes evenings, weekends, and travel as required by the athletic schedule.
• Regular interaction with student-athletes, coaches, parents, officials, and school personnel.
• May involve exposure to varying temperatures, noise, physical activity, and potentially stressful or competitive situations.
Terms of Employment The Assistant Girls Basketball Coach position is an extracurricular coaching position. Work schedule, coaching stipend, and other terms of employment are established by the Tripoli Community School District Board of Education and applicable district policies and agreements. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of required background checks, applicable coaching requirements, and all required district trainings.
