Position Summary The Tripoli Community School District is seeking a dependable, positive, and team-oriented Assistant Wrestling Coach to support the Head Coach in developing student-athletes through wrestling instruction, competition, teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, and character development. The Assistant Wrestling Coach will assist with practices, competitions, athlete development, supervision, equipment, and other program responsibilities while promoting a safe, respectful, and positive athletic environment. Qualifications
• Previous wrestling coaching or competitive wrestling experience preferred.
• Knowledge of wrestling fundamentals, rules, techniques, and strategies.
• Ability to communicate effectively with student-athletes, coaches, parents, and school staff.
• Ability to work cooperatively with the Head Coach and athletic department.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain required training.
• Must complete all required district and state coaching requirements.
• Dependable attendance, punctuality, and professional conduct.
Performance Responsibilities
• Assist the Head Coach with all aspects of the wrestling program.
• Assist with planning and conducting regular practices during the wrestling season.
• Teach and demonstrate appropriate wrestling fundamentals, techniques, strategies, and rules.
• Provide individual instruction and feedback to help student-athletes improve their skills and performance.
• Promote discipline, sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, and dedication.
• Establish and reinforce appropriate expectations for behavior and conduct.
• Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes.
• Assist with supervision before, during, and after practices and competitions.
• Monitor the safety and condition of facilities and equipment while students are present.
• Follow appropriate procedures for injuries, emergencies, weight management, and other health and safety concerns.
• Work closely with the Activities Director in scheduling practices and interscholastic competitions.
• Assist with transportation arrangements and team logistics as needed.
• Recommend equipment, supplies, uniforms, and other program needs as appropriate.
• Monitor student-athlete eligibility requirements.
• Maintain required attendance records, rosters, insurance information, reports, and other paperwork.
• Maintain current certifications and meet all state and district coaching requirements.
• Communicate appropriately with student-athletes, parents, coaches, officials, and school personnel.
• Assist with maintaining and securing wrestling equipment and facilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Wrestling Coach, Activities Director, or Building Principal.
Physical Requirements
• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Demonstrate wrestling skills and participate in practices as appropriate.
• Bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive movements.
• Lift, carry, and move athletic equipment and supplies.
• Move throughout athletic facilities and respond to student-athlete needs.
• Respond appropriately to injuries, emergencies, and other safety concerns.
Working Conditions
• Work is performed primarily in the wrestling room, gymnasium, athletic facilities, and other school or competition locations.
• Work includes practices, meets, tournaments, meetings, and other team activities.
• Schedule may include evenings, weekends, and travel as required by the athletic schedule.
• Regular interaction with student-athletes, coaches, parents, officials, and school personnel.
• May involve exposure to varying temperatures, noise, physical activity, and potentially stressful or competitive situations.
Terms of Employment The Assistant Wrestling Coach position is an extracurricular coaching position. Work schedule, coaching stipend, and other terms of employment are established by the Tripoli Community School District Board of Education and applicable district policies and agreements. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of required background checks, applicable coaching requirements, and all required district trainings.
