Position: Resource Counselor, Hendry Success Academy Department: Secondary Education, Alternative Education Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalence. College coursework or completion is preferred. • Experience: Minimum of two years of experience working with at-risk youth, preferably in an educational or alternative school setting. Experience with academic support and behavioral interventions strongly preferred. • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Strong understanding of adolescent development, behavior, and learning challenges. • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and de-escalation skills. • Ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with students and families. • Proficiency in data tracking, record-keeping, and report generation. • Knowledge of academic curriculum and various instructional strategies for diverse learners. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. • Strong organizational and time management skills. • Commitment to the success and well-being of all students.

Job Goal The Resource Counselor at Hendry Success Academy plays a critical role in supporting students in grades 6-12 who are attending the Academy as an alternative to expulsion from the Hendry County School District. This position is responsible for guiding and assisting students in completing their required coursework, ensuring they meet the terms of their stipulated agreements, and actively engaging with the necessary support provided by the Academy. The Resource Counselor will work collaboratively with school discipline administrators from all four secondary schools, community agency partners, and district staff to facilitate student success and re-entry into their home school environments when appropriate. Reports To Director of Secondary Education RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

Student Academic Support:

• Provide academic support to students in grades 6-12 across various subject areas, assisting them in understanding concepts and completing assignments. • Monitor student progress regularly, identify academic challenges, and communicate student academic progress with parents. • Facilitate and encourage student access to online learning platforms, educational resources, and other tools necessary for coursework completion. • Help students develop effective study habits, time management skills, and self-advocacy. Case Management and Stipulated Agreement Oversight:

• Work closely with students to ensure they understand and adhere to the requirements of their individual stipulated agreements for attending Hendry Success Academy. • Track student attendance, behavior, and academic progress in relation to their agreement terms. • Document all interactions, progress, and challenges in student records. Collaboration with School Discipline Administrators:

• Serve as a primary liaison between Hendry Success Academy and the discipline administrators of the four secondary schools within the district. • Communicate regularly with school administrators regarding student progress, behavioral concerns, and readiness for potential re-entry. • Participate in student review meetings, disciplinary hearings, and transition planning sessions as needed. Student Engagement and Support:

• Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes student engagement and responsibility. • Connect students with appropriate social-emotional, behavioral, and mental health supports available within the Academy or through community resources. • Assist students in developing conflict resolution, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. • Motivate and encourage students to achieve their academic and behavioral goals. Communication and Reporting:

• Maintain open and consistent communication with students, parents/guardians, school staff, and district personnel. • Provide regular reports on student progress and program effectiveness to the Director of Secondary Education. • Contribute to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of Hendry Success Academy programs and services. • Assumes the responsibility to report for evacuation shelter support in the event of an emergency and any other duties assigned during an emergency evacuation. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects. Ability to actively perform work in classroom, office, and other business and community settings. Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (typically involving frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and lifting). Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting. Exposure to weather conditions. Ability to travel outside the district for a variety of meetings and conferences. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Calendar Months: 10 Month Salary Schedule: Non-Instructional (Bargaining) Pay Grade: 99 Salary and Benefits as determined and approved annually by Hendry County School Board. EVALUATION

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with School Board Policies for evaluation of administrative personnel. ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS

• Work is performed primarily within the Hendry Success Academy. • May require occasional travel to other district schools for meetings or student-related matters. • May involve working with students who exhibit challenging behaviors. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
