Middle School Drama Teacher (1-Year Parental Leave Replacement) Position Type: Full-Time, 1-Year Position Position Overview: Kennedy Middle School is seeking a dynamic and student-centered Middle School Drama Teacher to join the Fine and Performing Arts Department for a one-year parental leave replacement. The successful candidate will provide standards-based drama instruction that promotes creativity, collaboration, communication, and performance skills in a supportive and inclusive classroom environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to working with diverse learners and fostering student engagement through theater arts. Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based drama instruction for middle school students

• Teach foundational theater skills, including acting, improvisation, movement, voice, script analysis, and ensemble performance

• Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment

• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners

• Assess student progress using a variety of performance-based and classroom-based measures

• Provide opportunities for students to develop confidence, creativity, and collaboration skills through drama

• Maintain classroom materials, scripts, props, and instructional resources

• Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the school community and Fine and Performing Arts Department

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Theatre Education, Drama, Theatre Arts, Performing Arts, or related field

• Valid Massachusetts teaching license in Theatre/Drama or appropriate related licensure

• Demonstrated knowledge of drama/theater instruction and middle school learners

• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills

• Commitment to culturally responsive and inclusive teaching practices

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience teaching drama or theater at the middle or high school level

• Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse students

• Experience directing or facilitating student performances or theater activities

• Ability to build strong relationships with students and foster a collaborative classroom culture
