TITLE: HEAD GIRLS ELEMENTARY BASKETBALL LEAGUE DIRECTOR QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Demonstrated interest in and aptitude for performing the task listed. 2. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Principal/Athletic Director JOB GOAL: To help each participating students achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of esteem. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Recruiting, training, & leading volunteer coaches as well as assisting them with VIPS approval.
• Coaching a team(s) if needed
• Responsible for assigning teams to create competitive balance.
• Scheduling of practices and games.
• Working with administration to order supplies & staff the concessions.
• Assign referees to games that are competent & can help teach basic fundamental skills & rules of the game.
• Work with the athletic director to provide uniforms for each team.
• Communicate with parents, principals, & athletic director to provide necessary information concerning the league.
• Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
• Recommends purchase of equipment & supplies as deemed necessary for league success.
• Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records, accident reports, and similar paper work.
• Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times those students are present.
• Works with athletic director to establish educational minimum performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition.
• Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establish and oversee
penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
• Assures that all students are given an equal opportunity to participate.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Compensation and duration of coaching season to be established by the Board. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
