Job Title: District Nurse Reports To: Chief of Schools Organization: Tejano Center Division: RYSS Texas Public Schools Location: RYSS Primary School at Broadway, RYSS Middle School at Broadway & RYSS Early College at Broadway POSITION SUMMARY The District Nurse (RN) coordinates and provides comprehensive school health services across RYSS Texas Public Schools to promote student health, safety, wellness, and academic success. The position provides direct nursing care, oversees health services and required screenings, supports students with chronic or complex health needs, supervises assigned nursing staff, and ensures compliance with applicable health and nursing requirements. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Education/ Certification
• Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program. • Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Texas Board of Nursing or a state participating in the Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC). • Current CPR/AED certification (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers).
Experience
• 3 years of professional nursing experience (school health experience preferred) SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
• Knowledge of school nursing practices, student health assessment, first aid, emergency response, chronic condition management, and applicable health regulations. • Knowledge of medication administration, mandated health screenings, and confidential health recordkeeping. • Strong organizational, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills. • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and health protocols. • Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, school personnel, healthcare providers, and community agencies. • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise professional judgment, and respond effectively during emergencies. **PLEASE OPEN ATTACHMENT FOR COMPLETE JOB DESCRIPTION DUTIES** FLSA Status: Exempt Emp Employment Status: Full-Time Work Calendar Status: 11 Months (215 days) Salary: MIN: $70,564.10annual MID: $77,730.77 annual MAX: $86,815.90 annual
