This is a great opportunity to gain valuable retail and customer service experience. Participants receive excellent on the job training and are supported by a retail manager who is there to support their career in retail by training them to a high standard in all aspects of retail as outlined below. This busy retail environment generates good work ethics and helps strengthen the participant’s personal and interpersonal skills, engaging with the public, volunteers and their line manager. This also help build confidence and self-esteem. Main areas of work experience and tasks to be offered to participants. • Team work- working within a dynamic team environment. • Stock preparation and presentation. • Cash handling duties – use of cash register EFT machine. • Health and safety- training in workplace health and safety fire and basic first aid skills. • Work ethic- good time management, multitasking and prioritising tasks. • Security- awareness of shop theft and safety procedures. • Management training skills. This is a training and work experience opportunity, no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection. The participant will receive formal/informal training in the following:- Formal Training: Customer Service Manual Handling Health and safety. Informal Training: Sales techniques. Dealing with grievances. Working in a team setting , sharing and delegating tasks Multitasking, initiative and prioritising tasks. Preparing stock, pricing and window displays. Shop cash handling recording and balancing, Banking duties Work ethics and time management
