Job SummaryThe Division of Insurance and Research (DIR) provides the public with a sound deposit insurance system by: providing comprehensive statistical information on banking; identifying and analyzing emerging risks; conducting research that supports sound deposit insurance, banking policy, improved risk assessment, and consumer protection; and assessing the adequacy of the deposit insurance fund and implementing an effective and fair risk-based premium system. Internship will begin Fall 2026.
QualificationsQualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. (CG-04) Applicants must have completed: - two (2) full academic years of post-high school study or obtained an associate's degree; OR - one (1) year of general experience in clerical, office, or other work responsibilities, demonstrating the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled; OR - a combination of education and experience: equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Combination of Education and Experience - Your current education completed is credited as a percentage of the education required for the grade level and your current experience is credited as a percentage of the total experience required for the grade level. The two percentages are added and must equal 100% in order to qualify for the desired grade level. Note: An academic year of undergraduate education is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in an accredited college or university. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
Major DutiesPerforms research and compiles financial and economic information. Uses various computer software (e.g., spreadsheet, database, presentation, mapping, design, and economic) to extract data and generate reports. Prepares draft summaries of financial and economic research data on existing and emerging issues. Maintains and updates various office files to include work papers, data files, and records.RequirementsRegistration with the Selective Service. U.S. Citizenship is required. Employment Conditions. National Agency Check Investigation (NACI) required. Must sign pathways agreement if selected. Must provide official transcripts if selected. Must have a graduation date of May 2027 or later.
