As an Accountant (Staff), you will have responsibility for providing analysis and advice regarding the accounting programs, financial systems, business processes, and/or shared services administered by the organization.
QualificationsYou must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Specialized experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: - Research, interpret, create, modify, and develop accounting policies in both oral and written form to various internal and external stakeholders at various levels of management or other stakeholders; AND - Lead or coordinate projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, providing technical guidance or recommendations, and keeping management informed of project status and issues.
Major DutiesAs an Accountant (Staff), you will: Coordinate efforts on complex accounting issues and resolve government wide or customer issues. Serve as a technical expert and consultant to management, staff and/or customers and stakeholders on controversial, complex and difficult accounting problems or projects that require escalation. Responsible for the preparation, review, analysis, and or submission of high-profile financial statements that are compliant with governing regulations. Lead special projects and or studies of considerable scope and depth that impact the operations of Office of Accounting and/or its customers and stakeholders.RequirementsAll newly appointed employees to the competitive (or excepted) service are subject to a probationary (or trial) period.
