Job SummaryNIST is seeking an experienced Electrician Leader to help keep its complex facilities powered, safe, and operational. You will lead skilled electricians in maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving critical electrical infrastructure, solve challenging electrical problems, and ensure work meets rigorous technical, code, and safety standards.

QualificationsThere are no specific length or level of experience requirements. The applicant's overall background of experience, education, and training must clearly demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of an Electrician Leader, including leading electrical work involving the installation, maintenance, modification, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment, without more than normal supervision Applicants must meet the screen out elements and achieve an overall score of at least fifty (50%) or higher Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major DutiesIn this position you will: - Lead a multi-level crew of electricians performing installation, maintenance, modification, troubleshooting, and repair of complex electrical infrastructure and power systems. - Distribute daily work assignments, establish work priorities and pace, provide technical guidance, and ensure employees have the tools, materials, equipment, schematics, and instructions necessary to complete assigned work. - Perform journey-level electrical work alongside the crew, including installing, modifying, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, circuitry, and transformers. - Diagnose complex electrical problems, including power quality issues, harmonics, and circuitry anomalies, using specialized diagnostic and testing equipment. - Interpret electrical schematics, engineering plans, single-line diagrams, technical specifications, and applicable electrical codes to locate faults and perform electrical modifications and repairs. - Provide hands-on instruction and technical guidance to electricians of varying skill levels, including demonstrating proper work methods and troubleshooting techniques. - Monitor work in progress and review completed electrical work for technical accuracy, quality, and compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70E, OSHA requirements, and established safety procedures. - Ensure proper electrical safety practices are followed, including Lockout/Tagout procedures, use of personal protective equipment, and establishment of appropriate arc-flash boundaries. - Identify material and supply requirements, coordinate requests and ordering, track availability, and report work progress, completed assignments, and operational issues to the supervisor.
