Job SummaryThis position will serve as the Lead, Program Support Assistant (PSA) for VA Community Care, within Integrated Access Services (IAS). The incumbent must be proficient in all of the policies and procedures of care in the community as he/she will be involved in an extremely complex blend of computing technology, medical information, communication skills, and leadership qualities in a rapidly changing environment.

QualificationsTo qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/21/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: A thorough and comprehensive knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, polices, guidelines and procedures that are required. A broad knowledge and experience in the field of patient administration (both inpatient and outpatient), including medical records and related fields of medical administration. Must be able to maintain cooperative, effective relationships with a wide variety of individuals. Must have a thorough working knowledge of computer systems necessary to manage, control, secure, coordinate and implement computer activities. Knowledge of standards and business. English usage and proper formatting of formal correspondence in response to inquiries, reports, audits, etc. Must have managerial skills with a high degree of aptitude in oral presentation, written communications as well as a sound mathematical base to perform assignments. Major DutiesThe Cincinnati VA Medical Center (CVAMC) is a two-division campus located in Cincinnati, OH and Fort Thomas, KY serving 15 counties in Southwest OH, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana with 6 Community Based Outpatient Clinics located in Bellevue, KY; Florence, KY; Lawrenceburg, IN; Hamilton, OH; Clermont County, OH, and Georgetown, OH. The CVAMC also supports two off main campus locations in the Cincinnati area via an Eye Center and Mental Health Outreach Community Division. Major Duties: Works with the Supervisory Program Analyst in the assignment of functions to team members in order to meet routine and unusual deadlines and priorities. Serves as the work leader, ensuring the work assignments of employees in the unit are carried out. Assists with the distributes and balances workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow and/or job specialization. In case of shortage of personnel due to scheduled or unscheduled leave, the incumbent will be responsible for filling in to ensure smooth workflow to include, but not limited to the following: entering authorizations, processing request, requesting medical records, scheduling Community Care appointments, preparing correspondence, etc. Maintains a current knowledge and answers questions of other employees' procedures, policies and directives. Trains or arranges for the training of team members in the accomplishment of tasks or projects. Gives on-the-job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices. Obtains assistance and/or needed information from the Supervisory Program Analyst on problems that may arise or backlogs that cannot be disposed of promptly. Acts as a liaison with various clinical and administrative staff and services throughout the Medical Center to ensure the effective and efficient operation of Community Care. This involves evaluating problem areas and coordinating with the appropriate staff/services to resolve these problems, if possible. All unresolved problems will be reported to the Supervisory Program Analyst. The incumbent performs audits; tracks, captures, and reports data; and prepares report to assist management with making decision and evaluating work and productivity. Establishes and maintains a monitoring mechanism on statistics to ensure accurate and timely data capture and analyzes and displays data in graphic/written format, whichever is appropriate, to present the information in a meaningful manner to medical center leadership using various computer software. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
