Job SummaryProgram Support Assistant is assigned to the Physical Medicine and Rehab Service. Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service is a comprehensive and integrated health care service providing quality clinical care and services to veterans. Coordinating and organizing communication between the service team and other internal and external service entities to include My HealtheVet, PATS-R Reponses, congressional letters, and any other communication between internal and external service entities.
QualificationsTo qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/16/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within 2026, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You will not be contacted for additional information. Excellent written and verbal communication skills c. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks d. Customer Service experience, preferably in a healthcare or public service environment e. Experience tracking projects, equipment, personnel, or workload metrics d. Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to the team. In addition to meeting the Time-In-Grade Requirement you must meet the Minimum Qualification Requirement. Minimum Qualification Requirement: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 related to this position within the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Maintains a calendar of appointments, meetings, conferences, and deadlines for the Service Chief. Receives and reviews correspondence. Coordinates meetings and prepares meeting minutes. Maintains office supplies and equipment. Utilizes a range of software applications or pivot tables (i.e. Microsoft Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint or Access) to prepare correspondence. Performs Timekeeping duties. Major DutiesInclude but not limited to: Communicates effectively with customers, staff and management. Develop and maintain the service database reports and create quality work to represent service data. Performs office automation work on personal computer utilizing multiple programs to complete documentation. Receives and reviews all incoming correspondence. Utilizes an electronic time and attendance computer program to perform timekeeping duties. Maintains office supplies and equipment. Coordinates meetings and prepares meeting minutes. Communicates suspense items and maintains a suspense file of due dates for assignments and follows up to ensure all suspense's are accomplished on or before the due date. Offer solutions to improve adherence to goals should performance not meet the scheduled standards. Performs basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports as needed.
